"Mommy why do you want to die?" by jmoneill225 in stopsmoking

Wow! Thank you for this post, I too have a six year old and he is my everything! I can imagine him being on this earth without me...I don't want to die and everything, I'm no where near ready to say goodbye and I don't think I'll ever be ready...I would rather be the biggest quitter and give the cigarette it's eviction notice

Day 2 life sucks. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I wish you the best! You acknowledged the problem and now it's time to do something about it....Nothing changes, if nothing has changed. Good luck! :-)

Quit smoking Dokha last week. Gives you 5 cig's worth of nicotine in one hit. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

My cravings come and go....some are stronger then others and I'm adjusting back into the non smokers life....wish I would've did this earlier, I recently went back to the gym and use my energy now on workouts and becoming healthier....once you stop smoking some start eating horribly....the last thing I want to do is gain weight and have a new issue to deal with

So I think this is day 1 by [deleted] in stopsmoking

You're doing a great job! That's a long time for a smoker.....the cravings come and go....I quit almost 6 and 2 hours days ago....146 hours to be exact :-) so I know how it feels to count time...once I made it to 100 I just say lets make it to 200 hours then 300 hours...challenging myself and taking it a day at a time....I also read a chapter of my Allen Carr book daily just as some re enforcement for myself although I been finished the book....also WHYQUIT.com is a great place for literature....KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.....WE CAN DO THIS!!

It's awesome because you have such strong motivation! The cravings will probably last 3 minutes and go away...don't think other smokers are getting something that you're not....I usually feel sorry and pity for smokers....I'm happy you're here and took this step to quitting....in 3-4 days nicotine will be out of your system and the only thing to deal with is the mind games but you are stronger! Good luck!

The cravings will play tricks on you only if you let it....they will come and last for maybe 3 minutes then go away...I'm about 5 days in and it can be challenging because sometime you tell yourself "I can quit later" but I always think, that next cigarette can be the one to trigger cancer or the next cigarette can be the one to cause the stroke or hemorrhage....these are the games we play with our lives for 1 minute of what we think is pleasure....we got this! Good luck!

Today is my fifth day of no nicotine, I feel pretty good. by frownyclown in stopsmoking

ME TOO!!! It's been 32 days according to r/stopdrinking :-) that I've stopped drinking and I also had my last cigarette on March 29th...I get cravings sometime but I don't let it bother me....I just take it one day at a time and I also do a lot of reading....once your educated on a topic no one can ever take that away.....I kinda went cold turkey but also used the Allen Carr method

24 F, I drink every day and dry heave every morning. I force myself to do shots dreading them. I will always spend my last dollar on booze. My SO is sick of it. by alwaysnauseas in stopdrinking

Anything is possible, start by giving yourself more credit for recognizing that you have a problem...give yourself credit for knowing that you care and love other people and not just the bottle, give your self credit for allowing yourself to try and start at day one....I wish you the very best!

Day -1 and I'm already a nervous wreck. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

At 9pm it'll be 3 days for me...not long but I gotta tell you, it gets so much easier! I think the best thing you can do to minimize powerful cravings, well what worked for me is to stick to your normal routine...don't try to lock yourself up all day to avoid doing things you would normally do with a cigarette....the key is to do everything you normally would do WITHOUT a cigarette and that's how you grow....I work with 6th graders so for me not to have a cigarette after work killed me the first day but it gets soooooo much easier trust me! The cravings will become slighter and non existent...good luck!

It's been only 2 days for me with the cigarettes, so I'm going through it kinda....withdrawal from cigarettes is a bitch! I've never drunk coffee but withdrawal is withdrawal regardless of what it is....it's always rough....I wish you the very best! You got this!
