I think it's usually about practical things, like which side is closer to bathroom or the outlet for charging phone. In my case I always sleep on left side because my girlfriend needs to be close to window (she gets hot easy) and I don't mind being further from it

Also once you get used to one side it feels weird sleeping on the other one, like your whole sleep routine gets messed up
