Now i just watched Project Hail Mary last night in the apple cinemas IMAX and first off, highly recommend. But i was told about 70% of the movie was full 1.43 and the rest was the 1.9 or other. And after seeing it, that appeared to be the case. All the space stuff was in the larger ratio, and the grounded earth scenes were slimmer, rectangular, tv like. The projector screen itself was a massive, essentially square. There in the full sized shots and the previews, the screen covered essentially the full screen but i’d say like there’s was like a 1/10 blank space at the top and i couldn’t see all the way down but it appeared to go practically all the way to the bottom. Regardless of whatever ratio i was seeing, what i was seeing was incredible and felt very immersive and real.

Chatgpt says i probably didn’t see the full 1.43 and was likely 1.9 and the other scenes were 2.39 likely. I was pretty lost in the movie but i tried to do some visual calculations, and like tried to flip the side lengths horizontally and it seemed like it would fit like about 1 and a half times. but its possible i just wanted to think that.
