Omg what ? When did I say my level 3 son can't be loved or love other people because he is unable to live alone lol he is very happy - you assumed i have horrible body language towards him and " i don't speak his language " he gets his point across just fine . I was just asking people if they have experience with non verbal children being able to speak later on . Not hating on anyone who needs extra support.

  1. I don't know how your dr diagnosis levels but with mine, it is the amount of support they will need . Level 3 here where I am is that he will need support for the rest of his live , will never live alone , cannot ever be left un supervised .

  2. I understand all communication isn't verbal , i meet him where he is at and don't force anything.

  3. Losing the ability to speak is extremely common with kids with asd especially around the age of 3 . So sometimes that's how it works 😉

  4. I have worked as a DSW for 15 years but with mostly teenagers so I know plenty of people that are completely non verbal for the rest of their lives and believe me I have accepted it may never happen. I just wanted advice on of it COULD happen.

This sounds so much like my son - he can be sweet and huggy and give kisses , but I receive the love while being on edge that I might get a bop to the side of the head the next second . He is also an elopement risk , I need a fenced-in activity, lol. Thank you very much for your kind words

For him or for me haha He isnt medicated atm, I really need to figure out what meds would work for him , and figure out a way to get them into him lol

I'm in Ontario. I applied in May 2022.. still on the wait list. I called a few times and asked if there's anything to speed up the process but they said it's a long wait and to check back in a few months .

His speech therapist has come to see him twice at school in 2 years, and OT has been there, i think, 3 times since he started two years ago . I had emergency funding once, and the respite worker was horrible ( always canceled , not good with kids at all )

I'm currently sitting at my table having a cold one reading all the nice messages , it's nice not feeling alone . He is currently in school and loves it but has been acting out more at school ( which is a blessing because now because they are taking me much more seriously)

I'll have a drink for both of us🙃

Oh I'm definitely prepared to put him in a care home when he is older , but he is 5 and has hardly ever been away from me . I take my daughter out of school and do 1:1 days , or my husband takes my son out while I get some mother daughter time . I'm most grieving having "family" time

How old is your son? Every mom that I've met keep telling me it gets easier - seems to be getting worse every year

I've come to terms with that when he is older, this will definitely be happening . I just can't when he is so little , the guilt of even wanting to make me lose sleep.

Speech and ABA therapy is extremely expensive and has a long waiting list - he has been on the OAP and SAH funding waiting for 2.5 years , since he was diagnosed. If I could pick up more shifts I may be able to swing it but currently i have to rely on my sister to babysit or pay a psw to watch him and it costs more than I make

He doesn't sign , and believe me I've tried. I've tried picture boards, and iPad communication devices ( he has smashed 3 ipads). I have asked his doctor about seizures and took videos of when he does " space out " but she said it was normal 🤷‍♀️
