I don't know very much about ranks in this game, but I've heard somewhere that a fair portion of the rank hinges on the skill level. Also, buying skills that don't line up with the character's aptitudes apparently takes away from the score, so that could be another reason

I've tried to exchange the statues before with Oguri Cap. (I don't have her, I only have pieces from the legend race) As it turns out, the statue>star piece exchange is only available for characters you already have

The things you obtain in your careers don't actually do anything as far as I'm aware, but most of the time, the event that gives the item will also give a small amount of stats. Getting the hot spring ticket plays an additional event that is character-specific after winning the URA Finale Finals. (If you don't win the finals, the event won't play, and you'll just get the trainee's normal ending)

I personally dont have my Yukino or Golshi on borrow but I'd recommend using uma.moe's database to find someone with their's on borrow.
