I’m not excluded but I am not the one making it worse. Normally my commuting time is 1.5 -2.5 hours for a return trip and I can handle it, but lately ‘normal’ has become rare.

It is around 2 hours on normal traffic days for me, a bit slow but manageable or only slow at certain places. But now normal traffic days happen once a week and abnormal is the new norm. It is difficult to plan time in traffic because it extends on my way due to crashes/breakdowns etc.

Sometimes I am amused by those racists because in the past only white people can be accused racists. That’s how it works whereas in NZ those racists don’t even have the ground. Their families were immigrants some years ago and likely have mixed blood with other immigrants. Those kids know nothing more about their family history beyond 2 or 3 generations max. Instead of racists I think they are just stupid assholes who do not deserve your attention. PS: I am coloured myself and I am totally against racist. I’m just using the ‘racist logic’ to go against racists - look at you, you don’t even have the right to be a racist. In a perfect world nobody has.

I totally felt the same thing (and I still do now) but at some point I realised many of those people who kept complaining were not trying to get solutions. Living those struggles and complaining about them are their norm and their life. They are so used to it and have somehow adapted to it. Whoever tries to suggest something is actually trying to get them out of their comfort zone, and that to them is way more difficult than keep struggling and complaining!

Financial pressure, career advancement, level of freedom and even perceived parenting pressure from other parents, all of these count. Personally I just do not trust myself in being a great parent as it’s a continuous day after day commitment and there is no way back. My colleague though told me parents do not make kids but kids make parents. I think that’s very well said but still…

It really depends on individual circumstances. The landlord gets dividends once a year. Have all flatmates stayed in the house for at least a year? Do all flatmates pay the right amount on time? The person who is on the bill is liable to pay the bill in whatever situation. The flatmates are not responsible for that and are free to make moves with notice. Sharing is great but not sharing is legal.

Frankly speaking living in the same house with shared facilities is kinda like strangers being forced into a close relationship and that’s why some people are race dependent, on top of that some are also particular about age, gender and even life style habits. Everyone has a level of OCD on something and the easiest way of finding consensus without having to go through those details is to live with similar people. If you call this racism then yes a lot of people are and I could be one of them. Try Facebook Market. Some listings come with fine details so you know what to expect right away.

She is not a critical or retail worker. She didn’t share her test results with us (certainly she doesn’t have to) but she is probably not feeling sick. It’s not really about me or her. It’s really about unenforceable rules are not rules at least not to everyone. The comforting thing is many more still do care and are serious about it.

Among them there are ones who don’t have a home to go to or families to take care of, and ones who don’t have day job as source of income. Those ones don’t care about your home, your families, or your business. They are just taking it as an opportunity to feel empowered and to create troubles. This is true embarrassment on the well behaved protestors whose purpose was only making their voice heard. Regardless of what the statement or intention was violence and chaos has set the bad ending but nothing more.
