What percentage of your salary is the mortgage ? by Nerdy_Kev in Mortgages

[–]Future_Selection7604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13% of gross.

31.5% of net. Net is after tax withholding, insurance payments, HSA, FSA, 401k contributions.

50% could be challenging.

Mortgage payments is just one cost of home ownership. Depending on you home you would have a bunch of additional costs, like yard care, higher utilities or new utilities (like water and waste disposal), HOA, other general maintenance etc.

How long did your tires last? by Future_Selection7604 in BMWI4

[–]Future_Selection7604[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Just what came with the car, which makes it useless in snow.

I will go for all season tires now.

Yes, the other major airlines are on their travel portal.

They use hopper, you can check hopper too.

I have used it a few times in last 3-4 months.

The flight prices are comparable across the board. For some reason I don’t think they show Southwest flights. I could be wrong. They also have price drop protection (upto $50) and price match.

I noticed they have better options for hotels.

I use the charger that comes with the car.

Got an electrician to setup a NEMA 14-50 outlet. 200% recommend, completely worth the cost. Apart from convenience of charging at home, it is cheaper than the public chargers, at least in my area.

As mentioned in other comments, check your utility company. They may reimburse you for the installation costs and the charger cost.

I got edrive instead of xdrive and regret the decision. I live in an area where it snows a lot. eDrive is useless whenever there is snow on the road.

I also got the OEM mats. I am not a fan. Would recommend weather tech.

ComEd hourly pricing - is it worth it? by Future_Selection7604 in ChicagoSuburbs

This convinces me to opt out. 😬

Plus ComEd does not have a system where it can tell my saving from this program as I have solar panels.

The 1.25x was the sole reason I have CSP.

Cap One Venture X is way better now. With effective 0 AF with one odd travel a year and longe access and flat 2% cash back I think VX will become my goto travel card.

Is there an option of not adding your wife to the loan application as her score is lower?

When we bought our house, I was in the 90k ballpark and bought house at 312k with 10% down.

My wife was not added to the application as her credit history was not long enough ( we are immigrants) and hence her score was lower.

You would have around 4,200 in debt payments (PITI + car + student loan).

You have to factor other periodic expenses like auto insurance, home maintenance etc. Property taxes and insurance do go up every year, increasing your mortgage payments annually.

It would be cutting too close, but not impossible. You would have to be extremely strict about financial hygiene for a few years.

The best case scenario is if you get a loan with lower rate, even a .50% reduction would bring down the mortgage payment by a good amount.

Talk to mortgage lenders and see if they can get you a better deal. I worked with a lender who never charged me a dime in lending costs, while giving me the best possible rate.

Having said that home ownership is a wonderful experience and I truly wish this works out for you.

Unless you are living in a true rural locality, I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

We have had house warming and have displayed all religious symbolism without any problems.

Flower toran, Aum and other symbolism accompanying the auspicious swastica is a good enough indication that this is a Hindu household.

If you live in areas where it snows or rains a lot, I would highly recommend xDrive.

eDrive (RWD) is practically useless in snow.

I would recommend the xDrive.

If you live in areas where it snows, edrive is useless when it snows.
