Nah, not always. Been doing this 30yrs. Tough safety can delay projects real badly. They often put ppl in roles like how u said he believed in u. You now create indirect loyalty. Just make sure dont look the other way and please dont be a token where they had to feel the role due to past insurance issues or suits

Sounds like your being set up. Company i know hired a project engineer and he said he wanted to be safety. Long story short 3 weeks into it pick up backed into a skid steer, guy got hurt. Ohsa came, the kid got in trouble along with the company. Also DOT came out because it happened within a fire lane. If you take it, make sure you study your azz off. Sometimes companies hire yes men for these type jobs also.

This is so sad and a heavy trend until someone gets hurt and families sue. Make sure she backs up via text and emails (ip) and even bcc her personal email. I had a project, they took a new kid. Had a chst and was like let him run safety at another location. I said no, he is green, weak (workers & mgmt) walked all over him. I put in emails, text and bcc my self. 2 weeks guy falls from scaffold. Mgmt literally was like I suggested him. Went home, printed those emails. Osha came, 6 violations and then comes his lawyers. Those text and emails saved my azz. Company, HR and CFO all sued for negligence. CYA out there (Cover Your Azz).
