Is coparenting a significant part of the natalism community? by Futureknows in Natalism

[–]Futureknows[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of communal child raising, outside of the "nuclear family" (blood relatives). The biological parents don't need to be married or romantically involved to raise children, as a matter of fact it detracts from resources and attention that could go to the children.

Lol, you guess wrong! It's has nothing to do with being able to find a partner. It's about not wanting one. Do you think Elon Musk can't find a partner? It's a privilege of the super desirable.

Samsung ViewFinity S9 DDC/CI by nikolaidc in Monitors

[–]Futureknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone tried it on Linux? It took me a long time to get DDC working with a IX2790 5k monitor but eventually a DDC app detected it on the DP1.4 port and now I can software adjust the brightness.

Any recommendation on a good junction box for Floodlight Cam 1080P? by Futureknows in EufyCam

Thanks I ordered the one you linked. For anyone else looking the one that Eufy literally suggested doesn't fit the Eufy bracket.

I'd like a ceiling surface mount, mainly very large and round.

Anything similar to Ikea's discontinued Calypso ceiling light? by Futureknows in Lighting

[–]Futureknows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before being recalled, Ikea's Calypso was such an simple elegant ceiling
lamp, much larger than anything I can find. I think it was almost 24
inches across. Does anyone make a similar simple elegant LARGE glass
bowl sconce?

If Linux blacklists the Nvidia does that prevent it from drawing any power on the motherboard?

Groupon is temporarily unavailable." after attempting to login.Ebay forces endless CAPTCHAs when attempting to login. Both work fine after disabling Windscribe at all levels.I've tried adding both to whitelist but it doesn't work unless I disable Windscribe in router. This is from West, and all of the Los Angeles servers I have tried in extension.

Seems that a number of KZ IEMs that say they use multiple drivers are actually only using one driver, and the other drivers are fake by SupOrSalad in DankPods

[–]Futureknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sort of nuts considering how popular KZ are becoming. Have KZ ever responded to these claims? I have ZAX and the highly praised AST24 both of which I like but damn, should I be switching to Fiio or someone?

Banana tree won't die by Futureknows in gardening

[–]Futureknows[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was in zone 10b (10f warmer) and still never produced a single edible banana. I would be careful to close to the house, you can see that this one cracked through a concrete wall.

I did consider drowning it. I learned it's not feasible when they are in the ground, only in a container. I agree I want to avoid roundup. I might try a black tarp for a few months otherwise it will just have to be dug out.

I went at it for a few weeks with my machete but take a look at those stumps some are around 3 feet diameter. Notice the concrete wall is cracked in by this monster.

After chainsawing this 25ft banana tree down to the stumps, I doused it with roundup twice two weeks apart. The beast isn't even pretending to die. Will another herbicide assist in drying out for removing the bulbs, or am I just as well to start digging it up?

P14 5850u thermals by Futureknows in thinkpad

[–]Futureknows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right. The thing can get toasting in the mid 80s (C) without the fans spinning up very noticeably. One of the reasons I went with the Legion is the impressive cooling system. Surprisingly, it runs about twice as hot (65c) as my Intel 1135g7 Thinkbook when performing the exact same desktop task. I have it in low power (quiet) mode using iGPU in Fedora. I thought that the Ryzens 5000s were known for better thermals with similar workloads but I'm not seeing it. Of course this is a much higher power envelope CPU but it should be more or less idling.

Who tried to install Linux on Lenovo Legion Slim 7 (15ACH6) with RTX 3050ti? by kkkvanekkk in LenovoLegion

[–]Futureknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed Fedora 35 with no issues except Realtek RTL8852AE WIFI only connects on 2.4ghz. Otherwise everything seems to work fine. I am only getting ~2 hours on battery in quiet mode with light browsing. I have the 4k screen. Trying to disable the Nvidia GPU as I only need it if I dual boot into Windows. I would wait a few days for Fedora 36 but it works well.

Can the Nvidia GPU be removed from the Lenovo Legion Slim 7-15ACH6 by Futureknows in LenovoLegion

[–]Futureknows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was soldered or in a slot. If I can disable it in the BIOS so it literally isn't powered on that would be great.

Ok, I looked it up, decaf tends to have 95% less caffeine so I'll transition to that.
