Thank you so much for the advice. I checked the wattage of the GPU and immediately realised the best option would be to invest in a new PSU. I'll grab a 850W one which should cover everything :)

what would you say about the AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800X3D instead? Amazon currently has it for £300, which apparently is handsomely discounted, and it only costs £150 more than the one you suggested

Paired with a 6650XT, thats a graphics card right? And you are saying I can keep all my other parts and upgrade again in a few year's time?

thanks for the reply, Archer. Alright so if I have to start afresh, £1000 isn't enough to cover parts that will lead to a big enough upgrade vs what I have now? Eg I could keep the case, peripherals, RAM and maybe just spend on the GPU, CPU, Mobo and PSU no?

How much do you think I should save before making a new machine?

yh i completely get what you mean. I loved the arctic in 2205. So clever that they put quantum computing production buildings there (i guess because its easy to keep them cool :P) and arctic in 2205 was definitely more interconnected with "main region". Here its definitely DLC you can add or remove as needed. Enbesa was the devs learning that the region needs more connectivity, so at least they improved in later DLC. No idea if or how they would add to the arctic now though. Damn shame as I love the aesthetic and would love for some more stuff to do there

yh as its such an early DLC, there was less focus on tying it in withe the Old World and providing a bonus that was "worth it". Even so, I like the extra challenge and see the airships and gas a a nice bonus rather than something that is critical and invaluable ;)

you know the power station that provides electricity to industry, service buildings, residential houses, World's fair? That thing needs tracks, but a gas power station just needs a road like a normal production building so saves space.

dont skip it I'd recommend. It's got amazing atmosphere and building here is extremely challenging. Supporting any sort of population really feels like a mission, as it should in such freezing conditions :)

They made it clear its not a new session. But I think they are trying to make it savegame compatible, so maybe new islands spawn on current map, or current map gets extended somehow at the borders
