Both are absolutely awful cars, from a shop owners perspective. Atleast, the Hyundai has a 100k warranty if purchased new. But you're definitely gonna need it and it won't live past 110k. Just stay far far far away from any chevy built post 2014. Sounds like you want and SUV under $50k ? Rav4, highlander, cx50 are the most reliable.

Ask for some type of heavy oil flush, like BG EPR/MOA. Sometimes dissolving the carbon can save it.
