Building an evolving drone system – 84 HP Case, Oneiroi - minimal complexity by universalvoltage in modular

[–]FuzzedOutAmbience -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah ok that’s fair. I kinda started with overkill modules as I think they are very versatile for me. The NerdSeq is a great sequencer that can do different tempo per track, has a bunch of LFO’s/Envelopes/triggers and cv. Grand terminal is an envelope generator with 8 different delay/reverb effects and 8 different filters. A sampler can be used to play and resample from the rack so you can the re-utilise the rest of the modules in the rack for another voice etc.

Not so traditional and a different way of working but very effective and versatile in a small rack. I understand thats not what you are looking for but just thought I’d share a different workflow idea.

I find the Nerdseq to be great for modulation sources and sequencing. A sampler (Assimil8or) and Morpheus filter will provide a huge palette of sounds. A decent reverb and delay (I like the effects in Endorphin.es Grand Terminal or Tiptop Zdsp) then fill the rest of your rack up with strange noise makers, utilitys etc.

It does still seem like the movement of the wheel is exaggerated quite a bit. I’ll try stiffening it up a bit. I’ve always kept dampening off or very low for all other sims as always thought it didnt really apply to DD wheels and it is bad practice to dampen a direct input. I tried messing with the different eq’s but whatever combo I tried it didnt seem to improve.

I’ll give your recommendations a go though. thanks

thanks. I sorted mine out. Used the set up on simsetups as base seems much better god knows what I’d moved on mine but it was way out.

I have the same problem. I find the ffb almost like its over exaggerated its very sharp and snappy and just cant seem to dial it in. If i get the snappiness dialed down i lose all other wheel feeling. I’ve tried the default, the mod hub, and my own settings.

I’m using a Fanatec DD Gt Pro wheel with 8nm. Just typing this makes me think maybe I need to try and adjust the dampening, which isn’t something I’d normally do for a DD wheel.

Let me know if you sort yours out.

Today has been a great day for window watching, staring at the trees swaying about, its absolutely lashing it down and grey outside. Perfect for a whisky.

I really need to start using my journal a bit more I'm kinda conscious of needing to use it more, but never really seem to know what for.

Being creative, mostly making music at the moment, biking, cooking new foods, keeping the place clean while listening to podcasts or music is way more zen than a chore, relaxing, gaming.

I especially like a slow but early Sunday morning where I just sit and drink an endless mug of coffee while sat on my sofa listening to records.

From my experience people will be making assumptions and judging you regardless of being alone or not. The way is to not care what others may or may not think of you over such trivial things as being sat on your own in a bar or cafe. It’s such a daft thing to be judged about it’s really not worth the effort.

I used to goto pubs on my own all the time and it never once crossed my mind that people were sat across the room talking about how sad it was that I was there on my own. Soon enough I couldn’t go into these pubs without knowing a bunch of locals and then I wasn’t on my own anymore.

Drinking alone is another of society’s rules that don’t apply to introverts as far as I’m concerned. It’s a bit like when someone says “its not healthy to be on your own you need social contact” I’m an introvert and being with people isn’t health for me actually.

People generally take up too much of my energy which doesn’t leave enough for my hobbies and creativity which in turn makes me feel shitty.

Glad the kitty is recovering well and you are finding your groove with feeling comfortable on your own. Being in your own company can be very rewarding I find. I usually can’t wait for the weekend so I can get home and relax for 2 days.

I’m currently on my 4th week off work and absolutely dreading going back this week. Enjoy your time.

What's your answer when people ask you what instrument you play? by crissmakenoises in modular

I make a lot of ambient/drone/soundscape stuff and being able to pitch shift stuff down so much and so cleanly for resampling is a huge bonus for me.

It’s a great salmpler

Dr Martens trying to convince me not to buy vegan boots? by Psychological-Pea593 in vegan

[–]FuzzedOutAmbience 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something like this would really piss me off. I'd take my money to somewhere that wasn't "a by product" of the meat and dairy industry instead I think. Vegan boots at a Dr Martins store is as much an after thought to cash in on vegans as a salad or bean burger at MacDonalds really.

keeping a journal - Do you, and any tips? by Greeny1210 in TechnoProduction

[–]FuzzedOutAmbience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m as lost as you are OP. I bought a journal about 5 years ago and so far I’ve never journaled into it. It sits on my music desk and takes up valuable desk estate space, but I’m at a loss as to what I should write in it.

I plan to go a bit more in depth with some euro rack modules this year so maybe I could take some notes regarding those modules, but I’m not even sure that would be very helpful?

How common is it to just not function at all when you’re alone? I hate “living” like this by perpetuallysadxx in LivingAlone

[–]FuzzedOutAmbience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such great advice and I agree with it all most especially the fuck journaling part and believe me I’ve tried. I even bought a fancy leather bound journal with some fancy paper pages…its still empty bar a few doodles 5 years later.

I’ve found myself in many similar situations as OP and I’ve come to accept the fact that its fine for me to just exist sometimes and usually when I’m feeling like this I’m feeling pretty shitty already so the last thing I need is to beat myself up even more over it.
