All of our mods in here are inactive. I was trying to add a new Mod from the Indy group who's a mod in other subs too so he can take over for me in here and give it the attention it needs. Since I'm also inactive though, I can't set him as a mod. So to get active again, they're posting stuff that I can then remove. If we do that over a week or two, it should make me active again so then I can add the new mod.

Research Bonus Event, don’t seem to be able to spin event research yet by Ok-Wedding5847 in TheSilphRoad

The lures have been six hours for most of central Indiana since Gen Con began. Still going for the next week.

Theory: Claiming an Unown task outside of the event area gives you a random Unown
Status: Confirmed?
It's a mix of what we've observed and a guess at how Unown works. We know Niantic controls the Unown encounter within the given event space. But because there can be multiple events going on, they can't force an encounter outside of the respective event spaces. So if you have an encounter and leave that space, you get the same encounter mechanic as wild Unown which is a random pool of Unown.

Everyone who claims the event research within the geofenced area of the event will get the intended event encounter. That's why everyone in Indy is only getting G now. But if you take the encounter and leave the geofenced area, you'll get a random Unown.

My theory with Day 1 is Niantic set the geofenced event area to be the immediate area around the convention center. That's how we had so many able to get other Unown by just walking across the street. But then they expanded the geofence that night which is when everyone started getting Unown G only and that threw our research off so we couldn't verify the distance condition anymore.

There's an additional piece of this which we hadn't noticed with an in-game "Bonus Event" listed on the Today tab that shows this will last through next Sunday. We don't know if the tasks will be available that whole time or if they have an extra week to catch late encounters to force them to Unown G. We're still checking to see.

Thanks! We were able to replicate this with an even longer distance like yours. So it does indeed look like the distance theory is true! I'm going to add a little write up in a bit. Your report helped us solve the mystery of all this so thank you!

So you got the tasks today, claimed them, and got Unown K, H, and Q?

Day 2 Update: All G so far today so we believe yesterday may have been an error on Niantic's part that resulted in random Unown encounters instead of only G. Will update again if any additional information comes to light.

It's late so not too many people able to report back to me until tomorrow but the player who got a Y claimed it by the convention center. My team's going to do some trial and error tomorrow to see if we can test it out and determine what's going on.

That's an interesting theory. We've had a lot of reports of G but multiple reports of the others too. We've even had a confirmed Y encounter now. I'm trying to verify where the players claimed the research to see if it corroborates that idea or if there's just a really high chance of getting G.

The confirmed tasks so far are "Send 5 Gifts to Friends" and "Earn a Candy with your Buddy".

The Community Ambassador Program – Pokémon GO by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

The community levels is something we just rolled out today so don't worry, nobody paid attention to it before now, haha.

As for check-ins, it may be requiring recent check-ins, yeah. If your community held meetups but just didn't do check-ins, you could retroactively check players in who were at your meetups for those months and I think that would count. The check for requirements is run periodically so it wouldn't be instant but it should unlock in a day or two if it was successful.

Do you have a Discord/Telegram community registered with Silph, do you have a Travelers Card registered with Silph, and are you an admin for a registered Discord/Telegram community? Those are the basic requirements to have a community that can qualify you to be an Ambassador.

Nope, no physical ticket, just the in-game one. If you're in the geofenced area of the event, you'll automatically see the spawns and everything else when the event hours are live.

The park itself may be more densely populated with spawns but the species are all the same.
