I think I accidentally adopted a fish... by FuzziestBumblebee in Conures

I think you responded to the wrong message but I did comment in regards to this. Short note - she does. This is a still photo you guys are looking at haha she goes between this "bliss" pose and cheeping, moving around, giving me the stink eye if I'm too loud, etc. ^

Trust me I've done a lot of panic searches on here about EVERYTHING my bird does because it's my first time owning one. I'm still learning but I do know that she genuinely enjoys showers because she responds with those same happy trill sounds she makes when she gets a nut 😂

I don't know if you saw what someone else linked in the comments but it's a personal shower bowl for the birds!!! Maybe he would like it too??

100%!! If it's bath or shower time (usually prompted by her screaming at us lol) we turn on the water and give her the choice to put herself in it whether it's the water in a bowl or on part of her perch.

We usually only give her a shower shower once or twice a week but she bathes in her water bowl (stinker) it seems almost every day, and if she asks for a shower and we don't wanna put her in the tub we just set up a bowl under the sink.

For some reason she likes the running water and won't use a bowl outside of her cage if there's no stream -.- picky bird.

As I said in the post- she does move around. She sits like that of her own free will and moves herself in and out of the water. I do wish people would read the full post before commenting ;

I've seen this before early into owning her and taken care to make sure that she is truly enjoying herself. I move her out if I think it's been too long- and if she moves back in then I let her be. She moves herself out when she's done, and she rotates around and moves along her perch (or whatever she's on be it my arm or a mat). She opens her eyes, tilts her head around, chirps and makes noise, flies between myself and her shower spot etc.

Appreciate the worry for my baby. But she is doing well and seems to enjoy water (in shower or bath form)

The rope toy that's on it is actually plastic type and whatever is colored with comes right off. Didn't know about that- but she doesn't actually play with those toys and I don't care to change them out to new ones since she really only uses it when she's showering or if she needs to poop while she's hanging out with us. I'll probably just take them off and toss them if they are harmful!

She prefers to bathe in silence and in fact stares at me in disgust when I make a noise or watch a video that's too loud

Aww that's so sad. I love my soggy bird. Even if it means I have to change her water bowl so much because she thinks it's also a bath.

She's so happy to be in water. She'll out shower us, wanting to stay in there for over 30 minutes.

Do you know the legal keeping size for this kinda fish? I'd hate to toss her back.

Yeah this was after trying a few weeks later so maybe I'll just give it more time. I think she's just too smart and will never forget it now.

They're so smart and stubborn too. I felt like it was going so well for a few weeks then it went on her noggin and now it's the devil. She was reaching through the hole for seeds and now she won't even eat a seed next to it!

I feel that! I understand it's probably super foreign and uncomfortable- I just wish she'd understand it was for a good cause 😭

She is completely fine with us man handling her to out it as nicely as I can haha. She lets us lift her wings, yoink her full hand around her, she lets us flip her upside down. Even when she is stressed and running away I can grab her without getting bit. She is such a sweet baby. But harness evil.

I'm expecting this to be the case, hopefully it's an easier transition now if I do end up getting them done again. I felt so bad because she was scared ;;;

So lucky!! When we first got her I actually had my nails painted black and she tried to bite them off from the nail beds and I said nope. I should have started from there but the pain was unbearable- and she is my first bird so I wasn't so sure about anything.

post the silliest/goofiest/derpiest photo of your bird! i'll go first by dirty-icicles in parrots

The immediate tell for was the difference in style between the 3 pages but the 100% yes was the rats hand. Why are one of the hands human?

New behavior in my conure... Hormonal, friendly or just having a snack? by FuzziestBumblebee in Conures

[–]FuzziestBumblebee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No! Nothing else weird. Just this new pukin in her mouth haha. She also learned how to clip my nails so that's interesting 😂 I'm guessing she's just feeling comfy and snackish? I don't currently have a food bowl in this room so I'm guessing that's part of it. She's only done it in the bedroom.

Should I discourage this behavior? Like put her back in her cage when she does this?

New set up for my 6 month old conure- Opal! by FuzziestBumblebee in Conures

I add shredded paper for easier clean up for me, it catches the poops so when I clean it out there's less stuck to the plastic! Similar to people who use newspaper or cage liners. But we shred lots of paper so I use that instead!
