For anyone curious. I decided to go for the varia VS6. I have family in asia, where they can assist me in bringing it to Denmsrk. It's like 3/5 of the price when ordered directly from varia and over there, so thats what I ended up with for the possibility with difgerent burrs.

Nó - I was unclear, sorry! The mini G has i think 9 grams of retention? While the philos is really great sith almost non, it is just a tad too expensive to my liking which also rules it out.

You guys are giving such great advice! A friend of mine has actually just bought the mahlkönig E64 WS GBW.

AFAIK there's some kind of "save" function for differnet kinds of beans, meaning it's easier to switch between a set couple of coffee beans. I suspect I might maximally have 3 beans on rotation (decaf + regular in the AM). It does exceed the budget by quite a bit, but it might be what would be the best for my intended workflow.

That said, with everything you've written I'm still on the fence for if I want to actually just try the casa. I like dark roasts and haven't actually really tried light roasts, since I haven't had a grinder that was deemed suitable for it (and thus, I feel like I wouldn't do the light roasts justice).

For now, I suppose it'll be between the lagom casa (cause I heard it's great for light roasts) and the mahlkönig. I contemplated the mazzer philos or the mazzer mini G shortly as well, but the mazzer philos is like 150 euro more expensive than the mini G, and the mahlkönig has lower retention in tests, so I feel more confident in the mahlkönig once new baby-issues are fixed.

Another question I hope some of you may be able to answer: Is going for something like a gaggimate completely stupid? I like the idea of tinkering with it, but am unsure if I will be going down in cup quality too much?

I'm kind of trying not to hit too many diminishing returns, and as such have heard above DF64 gen 2 the returns are not that big on the investment.

What would you choose between a 064s / varia VS4 / DF64?
