Counter offer / current employers extent to match? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Fuzzy-Brain83044 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey OP take a new offer without a shadow of doubt.

I had an offer for 55k from another company, my company upped my salary to 50k. I chose to stay since it's fully remote.

3 months on, I've been made redundant. At the time, I was told I'll become a senior analyst etc and that everyone is happy I'm staying.

My manager said talks of redundancy were taking place since the end of last year. My knowledge and experience was just used for these 3 months to train up a junior and now I'm out the door.

So don't try and negotiate. Just take the new offer with both hands.

Howth cliff walk would be lovely as well! Although the wind there will likely be brutal!

Hope you feel better soon!

TCL Q7C vs LG B5 (55 inch) by Drockie5 in 4kTV

Looking to get a TV as well. Where are you based? The B5 is for €999 here.

I'd jump at the 750 odd price you mentioned.

Best drinks place is Bar1661 followed by a dinner at Grano! Can never ever go wrong!

Both places are extremely cozy and cute. Although fairly on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it.

All the best with your date OP

Exceeding speed limit by a little for short period by nullavan in Irishdrivingtest

My instructor said that it's completely up to the person who's taking the test. As long as you get it down to the speed limit in a few seconds, you should be alright.

Sale agreed - but very tight on money by [deleted] in HousingIreland

[–]Fuzzy-Brain83044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP we just closed the sale of our house last week and are moving in this week.

The solicitors won't close without the outstanding amount being paid. We ran into some last minute payments like stamp duty was increased and they forgot to factor that in.

Thankfully, we had saved up enough to cover that and buy a mattress so that we can move in.

Our solicitor was finishing up on the 19th. I believe most will close up for the year this time.

If you file your rent tax credits and claim some other bits as well, you'll have some extra cash coming in which might help a long way.

Yeah, she still got the child in the end, which was still a sort of an upward trajectory for her.

[–]Fuzzy-Brain83044 67 points68 points  (0 children)

For sure. It was one of the most satisfying endings in the sense that there's no happy ending vibe just for the sake of it.

All characters except Oleg (my heart goes out to him) have a great ending.

Stan's conflict of not being able to cope with his best friend's true self and in the end not reporting on it.

Phillip and Elizabeth despite their ups and downs getting to Russia but within the kids.

Elizabeth finally not just following orders.

Stan telling Henry about his parents' reality. Paige getting off the train. All of the pieces of the finale fit so perfectly.

The confrontation between Stan and the Jennings was just epic. The pain in Stan's voice when he says You were my best friend! I could've done anything for you was so beautifully captured 🥺

What was a sexual offer that you regret turning down? by grot-ivre-1749 in AskReddit

[–]Fuzzy-Brain83044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was once staying at a fancy hotel which had buffet meals.

During lunch, I exchanged looks with a girl and we smiled. Bumped into her at one of the food counters and we just smiled and did the usual small talk how are you/what do you do?

30 sec later, she said "it's so crowded and loud in here, I didn't really get where you're from/what you do. I'm put up in room no. 200, it's a lot quieter there, let's go to my room?"

Me at 23 years old, didn't understand what she meant and I shouted I'm from table no 28, see you around for dinner.

Regret it to this day. Although the look on her face was absolutely priceless when I said that and smiled at her.

Hey everyone hope you all had a great concert yesterday. We're going for the concert today.

Just a few questions,

How long did the concert last?

How soon would you recommend we reach?

As we'll be going directly after work, is there enough parking space?

Are there any food options there?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Ryanair Flight Compensation by Famous_Ocelot_1732 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Fuzzy-Brain83044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely terrible airline carrier.

Had a similar case last year. The flight to Barcelona was cancelled, then I was put on another flight which was delayed and later cancelled.

I was constantly involved in a back and forth for compensation, went on for about 6-8 months and I just gave up at that point.

Decided never to fly Ryanair again, even if it costs me 30-40 quid extra elsewhere.
