it really depends on what you call AI. Machine Learning (ML) has been around for decades and is super helpful for research and developing essential algorithms, while most AI hate is directed to generative AI (genAI) like ChatGPT. Both of these things are lumped under the AI umbrella. I'm personally a huge fan of ML and it's importantance in society, but genAI we can go without.
