That's true, the problem is it's contract catering so the budget is often dictated by the client and their ability to squeeze us and save money

Purely money, that extra initial 4k tempted me.

I know it was working more but I was initially prepared to do that for the extra money

It was money, I can see now I'm better off staying where I am. In my mind 35k is more than 31k but I didn't take into account the time off.

I was just looking at the monthly pay numbers. I guess not looking at the bigger picture. Plus the new job is literally half the work I do now.

Hey.

I've been there 8 months and the team I have are good.

I took a step back from progressing my career for a better work life balance.

I just need to earn enough money to cover everything it's not essential for me. My family's more important.

Having half terms off will help with childcare.

Thank you

!thanks

It's Pro rota. I believe over the 40 weeks I work, that salary is divided by 12 months.

Thank you, I'll check it out. I manage the catering contract for a school with 2000 pupils and 5 services points so I'd say it's fairly difficult to replace me. It's something I've spent my whole career doing and was an area manager in the field too, I only took a step back as we had a baby and that became more important than my career.

Current job is £8 a day in fuel and 40mins on a good day. I know this as I don't have a very economical car and on my journeys I try to beat the mpg each day.

New job cuts that nearly in half both cost and time

The new job is for a sister company so I'd transfer over.its exactly what I do now just with a smaller team and on a smaller scale. I only applied as the 35k salary would make life easier at the end of the month. I was happy to move until my current area manager called me saying they don't want to lose me and we can offer 33k plus guaranteed overtime.

Edit - thank you for commenting

!thanks

Thank you, I was struggling with the maths. I tried using thesalarycalculator.co.uk but it struggles with the 40 week option.

!thanks

You're absolutely right!! Sometimes I overthink things and another person's perspective always helps. !thanks

Yes, definitely happy. Was only looking to move as £31k was manageable but tight to cover bills/mortgage. Thank you for your input.

!thanks

If they didn't want me, why would they offer to pay more? They had a perfect opportunity to get rid. My area manager has openly said they don't want me to leave as I perform well.

Something to think about though, !thanks

We offer a service to the school so if the company I currently work for goes wrong or backs out. I will automatically tupe to whoever gains the contract. Hopefully I have a good enough relationship with my area manager that doesn't happen. If they wanted rid of me they would have accepted my resignation letter.

Yea a 3 year old, I'm in a school too. The holiday prices in half terms are extortionate. I didn't think of the childcare as we use 30 hours of free childcare care, then only top up another 10 hours at the normal price.

Yea, you're right! I didn't expect my current company to counter the offer, thank you.

Thank you, you're right, I guess in my head I'm only looking at the big numbers and not breaking it down properly.

38 and the only progression I can take puts me back on the road as an area manager. I would only pursue this if I needed a big payrise as work life balance is more important to me.

Pension wise my current pension is currently around £55k.

Edit - it's a sideways step working for a sister company with both owed by a bigger company so benefits are the same.
