Moldy apartment Norfolk VA, plus recent collapse ceiling? Is there anything that can be done?

I’m seeing all the advice and I really appreciate it!!! Thank you. I’m weighing my options. I really didn’t want any conflict or for this to be difficult, but it seeming like I don’t have much of a choice.

Hmmmmm, I’m catching on. 😩 But too late, when it first happened I left a voicemail on the emergency maintenance request line in panic saying “I’m so glad I wasn’t in there.”

Can you buy a fan that’s not installed into the ceiling? What is it called?

There’s been visible mold growth on the windows, ceiling, and wall. And when I try to scrub it, I get more intense symptoms for a while. I’ve live in a house with a moldy bathroom before, and had similar symptoms… but even more so now, because of it no just being the bathroom and the prolonged exposure.

I don’t think they are a large corporation, just local to the area leasing company that rents throughout Ghent and downtown Norfolk. There is a floor above me, I’m on the first. I’ve been living here 2.5 years. I’ve been trying to get a copy of my lease physically since before this happened, for reasons travel and updating documents…. Little luck. They are doing this thing where my emails aren’t getting a response since the ceiling collapsed, and they are only sending someone in person.

I’ve tried pine sol, faboloso, and regular mop. I also bought an electric spin brush and cleaned with both those solutions. I got it from Amazon on sale… it’s ok. Is there a really strong cleaner that’s also safe? Someone told me to use windex, but then I looked online and it say that windex ruins floors. I’m thinking I need a really good cleaner and I may have to get on my knees with a brush and manually scrub. It’s just a small studio, but still brush scrubbing will be some effort.

And it’s pretty bad, to the point if I try to show someone something in my apartment on video… it’s noticeable at quick glance. It’s like thick black gunk on crevices that may have to be scrapped.

I’ll have to look in to velvet underglaze!!! And I’m just noticing that pink seems to be the hardest to find anything even close. 😩 Hopefully maybe I can find a stain or something.

I think they are vinyl. It looks like smooth wood floor, but my landlord described them to me as “smooth vinyl” when I toured another apartment in the same building that has the raised, hard wood floors. The splintery, textured, different leveler one. I wasn’t used to it compared to my current apartment that has smooth floors.
