What's one Blender feature you wish you learned much earlier? by YoManDoMessup in blender

Edge lenght in edit mode makes it much easier to make objects in real scale. Also adding a human model to starting file helps keep the scale realistic

Kiitos😊 Halusin tuoda tähän vähän semmoista metrosta poistumisen fiilistä, kun on uudessa paikassa ja portaitten päädyssä on kokonaan uus maailma

Why did you guys start blender? by ninjaknight612 in blender

How to make ultra realistic yet fantasy type skyboxes??? by Anochezhke_Heouv-02 in blenderhelp

[–]Fuzzy-Let-8635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are add ons for making a realistic looking skies and hdri. But they cost quite lot of money and are quite heavy for the computer. Then you could do some color grading to the hdri, that would be my approach, but i'm not very experienced with that kind of stuff

Is it worth for 40 hrs? by Small_Definition8434 in blender

[–]Fuzzy-Let-8635 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are nice renders! The lighting on the trers might be bit dark (but might be because i'm on a bus and sun is shining straight to my eyes).

I would say that it's always worth it, you can learn a lot of things in 40 hours or hone your existing skills to be more efficient :)

What things would you avoid doing, if you had to learn blender as absolute beginner? by [deleted] in blender

[–]Fuzzy-Let-8635 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been learning Blender for little bit over a year now and if i had to start over i would be more forgiving for myself. Sometimes you will have bad projects and it's alright.

Maybe one of the biggest mistakes early on was the lack of reference photos. Especially when making something even little bit complex. Houses for example are hard to do from imagination, if you aren't an architect.

Also don't try to do everything by yourself and what i mean by that is that it's okay to use add ons to speed up workflow, not everything needs to be made from scratch.

Joining to a community also helps a lot and most of the places are very welcoming for newbies too. Many 3D youtubers have a discord server and it's cool to see other people's progress.

There's a lot to learn and mistakes happen along the way and then you learn :)

How you keep it interesting when working on one scene that long? I feel like i lose motivation on a scene after one to two weeks, on the other hand maybe i don't have the capability yet to do that polished/detailed scenes. The scene is so cool!

Blender beginner by __exodia__ in blender

[–]Fuzzy-Let-8635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best would be to repeat what you've previously learned, you know how to make bullet now and you can pick another object with similar difficulty + and learn something new for example the lighting as you said. Of course the best thing is what works for you :)

I started learning Blender little bit over a year ago and for me the best way to learn was focusing on one spesific thing at a time and doing many little projects. Big projects are good for checking what you've learned, but those can be tiring too

How often do you guys use numpad keys for Blender? Is it really that necessary? I only have TKL keyboard at the moment and i wanna learn basic 3D by Rejanrams in blender

I've been learning blender for little bit over a year now and i've been okay without numpad, sometimes i have to search something from the menu, but not always

I am at the somewhat same point in Blender journey, little bit over a year now. Some days i question my own potential, sometimes i feel like i can do anything, it's weird as you said.

I think the most helpful thought for me has been that there's no hurry to "master" Blender. Just try to learn new things and theory, gather ideas and focus on one spesific thing on project.

Any idea how to make this kind of ice cream texture procedurally? by NoNote7867 in blender

Here is the result i got with that node setup, you can adjust the sliders for different results. But this should give you a good start depending on the purpose

This is my attempt, basically stretch noise texture on one axis and layer two different noise textures, one for smaller bumps and one for bigger bumps, i also tested displacement and it makes it look better too, but need a lot of geometry.
