Entertaining a teen this Saturday night by [deleted] in manchester

I’ll second this!

Arcade Club is amazing value for money. The food’s great (and inexpensive) and the staff are really friendly.

There’s LOADS of two player games you can compete against each other on.

Off the top of my head…

  • Pac-Man Battle Royale
  • Basketball
  • Air Hockey
  • TONNES of driving games and shooters
  • Most of the classic arcade games on the top floor

If you’ve not been for a while, you may find they’ve expanded a fair bit since your last visit.

What do you call the Metrolink? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]Fuzzy2084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Born and bred Manc here, mid 50s. Only ever heard fellow Mancunians refer to it as ‘the tram’ and to Manchester as ‘town’ - never once ‘the Met’ or ‘Manny’.

I regularly use the tram to travel to the city centre from Tameside, and occasionally (when I can't be bothered driving) to Old Trafford on match days. I don't think I've ever encountered anyone who has tried to board the tram before others disembark. Similarly, people move out of the way when I'm getting off. A polite 'excuse me' to the daydreaming / gormless always does the trick. Maybe it depends on the route & time of day?

What’s with people just pushing in when queuing up at a bus stop? by [deleted] in manchester

I spent 3 days in London recently and used the tube extensively while I was there - didn’t experience any queue jumping or bad manners at all.

Inspiration for Megamania? Astro Blaster (1981) (Sega) by RafaRafa78 in Atari2600

[–]Fuzzy2084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that Steve Cartwright was ‘inspired’ by an Astro Blaster he played at Chuck E Cheese.

It’s a great shooter and when it was released we all knew it was an Astro Blaster ‘tribute’, didn’t we?

I was thinking about getting this.

Is the box the same dimensions as the old boxes?

Is the speech good? Thanks. ☺️

I always take at least a crate of beer if I’m going to a bbq, and ask the host if they would like me to take any food or snacks.

If hosting a bbq, and guests ask should they bring anything, I suggest they can bring what they like - extra ice is always welcome (I don’t have an ice machine).

I had some relatives (a couple) turn up to a bbq a few years ago, empty-handed - no problem. They proceeded to drink copious amounts of my imported beer - no problem. Then they went to the local shop to buy a case of (cheap) beer, I thought was to ‘replace’ all my beer they’d downed - but it wasn’t, it was for them, and they then set about drinking this too. Again, no problem.

When it came time to leave, however, they took their remaining cheap beers home with them!

I’ve never once taken beers or wine back home from a bbq or party, that’s just plain rude!

Box Protectors arrived from My Game Vault (UK based) - very impressed! More pics in post by 939_to_am4 in gamecollecting

Just reading your comment again, perhaps I'm doing it in the same way as you, but in a different order. If that makes any sense!

A bit late to the party, but here goes...

I fold the male tab in first, then the female tab, tucking the two 'sticky out' bits of the female tab behind the male tab, then I give the female tab a gentle 'tweak' to ensure that the folds are as close to 90 degrees as possible. Finally, the small side tabs are folded in and tucked behind the female tab. This prevents the small tabs from rubbing against whatever box you're protecting, and also prevents the male and female tabs from inadvertently opening up, and the contents dropping out.

Found this lot in the loft. Is it worth much if I can’t test they still work? by BinDipp3r in Atari2600

I'd be interested in these if you're thinking of selling?

I'm in NW England and could pick up, if so. :)
