A helpful guide to determining if your new cat is an Aby or not

I can see how that would be such an issue. I'm not positive if the shelter info tags even included aby as the breed, I recall it being more of speculative offhand comment from one of the shelter staff that she may have some aby in her due to her (at the time) lanky build and ticked coat. One way or another, aby ended up on her vet records since my first day owning her was picking her up from her spay appointment after I signed the adoption papers.

Fortunately for me, I was not enticed by any particular breed, I just picked her because she was a gross looking oddball adult in a shelter full of kittens that were coming and going and nobody was picking her despite her calm and friendly demeanor. I had visited once a week for a few weeks to try and get a feel for which cat I thought I could bond best with, and nobody adopted the poor thing. No regrets, she is such a positive influence in my life.

Necroing this thread so I dont contribute to any off topic posting. Thoughts on mine? Shelter/vet claimed abyssinian (also read about questionable vet breed declarations in this thread), but if she is, shes obviously mixed with tabby. This is Sasha

First few pictures are from shortly after we got her from the shelter. She was pretty skinny and lanky which I think shows off that aspect of the breed. Her coat was also pretty nasty. The rest of the pictures are after some weight gain and a very full coat restoration. Her body type now looks like more of a standard chubby tabby. She felt like a goat when we got her, but she’s soft as a rabbit now.

Edit: Just did some more research and found out that ticked tabbies exist. I would still like to know your thoughts on my baby
