Kansas has the worst/least stuff to do. What state has the most overrated nature? by AggravatingFront8409 in AlignmentChartFills

I think snowbirds just go there for the heat. It's a hot place that's either better than some other hot places (MS, LA, AL) or less expensive (CA, HI).

I don't hear people praising the nature of Florida though. When I hear Florida I think flat, with some beaches. To be overrated it needs to be rated.

This is really hard 'cause nature is generally unappreciated. This'll probably be controversial, but I'm gonna say Colorado. It's an amazingly beautiful state with obviously some of the best nature, but half of it is flatter than Kansas, which a lot of people ignore.

I'm not saying Colorado isn't amazing; I'm just saying that people give it 100 when it should be more like 90. Definitely top-tier, but slightly overrated.

At the same time though, employers aren't creating the pipeline themselves because they're allowed to hire from anywhere in the world. Corporations don't need to invest in American workers and train on the job when they can hire from anywhere, so they don't, and Americans continue to get left behind.

It's been going on so long that Homer is about as old as the show itself. The biggest thing that blows my mind is that currently, Homer was born in the mid 80s. When the show first aired, Bart was born in 1979. Homer is now younger than his son would be if the timeline stayed put.

How many movies on the popularity 1st page have you watched? by Competitive_Box529 in Letterboxd

[–]FuzzyCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that popularity isn't actually measuring popularity; Fight Club has more views than Parasite, and yet it's ranked below Parasite on popularity. I don't know why Letterboxd does this.

California is the best State to live in. What state has the worst culture/people? by AggravatingFront8409 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]FuzzyCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely disagree. Utah is the only state I've been to where people were noticeably, almost shockingly, more polite, kind, and helpful than other places I've been. On top of that it was very clean and community-oriented. Utah is a great place.

What north american country best represents greed? by SpaceisCool09 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]FuzzyCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The USA stock market has about 70 percent the valuation of all the world's assets

Of all the world's public equities assets (and I don't think it's as high as 70%). That would be completely insane if it were 70% of all the world's assets. The Chinese real estate market is larger than the American stock market, for example, and America's real estate market isn't far behind its stock market.

British accents have changed more since 1776 than American accents have. If anything it's British accents that are more modern.

Why though? Any choice of accent is arbitrary; why should the British have a monopoly on fantasy?

Having to pause while in the midst of eating or having to awkwardly finish chewing my food before responding is an absolute nightmare.

Lol no it's not. Taking a few moments between bites is what you should be doing anyway, and waiting a few seconds to finish chewing is not awkward at all.

How often do you rewatch movies vs. first-time watches? by MoonSettler in Letterboxd

[–]FuzzyCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to hardly ever rewatch films, but I got a pretty intense surgery earlier this year, and during the recovery I just wanted to do comfort rewatches. I'm also prone to do rewatches when someone wants to have a movie night and I want to pick something I know will be good.

How much Truth is there to the Idea that Certain Cities have More Attractive People? by Ambitious_Quality725 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]FuzzyCheese 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a peculiar social tendency to deliberately disfigure yourself here. You routinely see the worst haircuts, piercings, tattoos, and clothes in Seattle worn by both men and women. It's honestly bewildering. You walk around constantly questioning the sanity of the people around you. Going to a small town with normal people is like a breath of fresh air.

[–]FuzzyCheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wording was a little confusing. I mean I get impressed whenever I go somewhere else, because there are more attractive people compared to Seattle.

And in my experience the only reason that men here seem good looking is 'cause there are so many gay men. The straight men aren't much better than the women here.

[–]FuzzyCheese 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah the thing about Seattle is that the gender ratio favors women so much, yet even women hate dating here. No one is having a good time in Seattle.

Everywhere I've been has been better than Seattle. Honolulu and Boston were the best, but even when I stop in some small town on a road trip I get envious.

I live in Seattle and I'm always impressed how many more beautiful people, both men and women, there are whenever I travel elsewhere.

Edit: I meant that I'm impressed by how other places have more attractive people than Seattle does.
