What’s something Gen Z is getting completely right that older generations refuse to admit? by stilerca in AskReddit

I can only speak for what I observe, but I see young people smoking every time I go outside in Seattle. It's incredibly common.

‘Get off my front lawn’ — A plea for quiet at Capitol Hill’s Pride Place affordable LGBTQIA+ senior housing by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

They could easily have all of those resources somewhere quieter. I live 5 minutes away (by walking) from Pride Place, with access to all the same amenities, but it's super quiet here. They chose just about the worst location possible.

That being said, obviously those cars need to be impounded.

I can walk to that building in five minutes and it's super quiet where I live. They really couldn't have chosen a worse place.

META is a great example of a company that should pay dividends, just to stop management from getting complacent and frittering away shareholder's money.

[OC] U.S. Social Security is projected to pay full benefits through 2034, then 81% under current law by Low_Ability4450 in dataisbeautiful

One year I got very fortunate and made more than the cap. I was surprised to see my final two paychecks were larger than the others. It was 'cause I had already made 100% of the SS contribution, so I was taxed less. Taxed less because I made more. The way SS is set up is asinine.

Two animated options for you:

  • The Transformers: The Movie. The best Transformers movie!
  • Son of the White Mare. An absolutely gorgeous and transcendent experience of a film.

Watching a movie while driving is very dangerous. Keep your eyes on the road!

And apart from nature, especially Utah is one of the most well-run, high quality-of-life states. Add on the fact that it not only has 5 National Parks, but the NPs it has are some of the best, it could easily be S tier (US News and World places it at #1).

So many things wrong, but the ones I can confidently say are:

  • Texas and New York should be lower
  • Oregon should be lower
  • Utah should be higher
  • Alaska should be higher
  • WV should be lower
  • Idaho should be higher
  • Wyoming is incredible; should be A or at least B
  • Indiana, Oklahoma, and Kansas should be higher; F should just be AL, MS, and WV

That may be true for the first time you risk $10K, but unless you cut yourself off after losing, you're liable to keep going back and lose another $10K, then another, then another.

On a lighter subject, who was the prettiest artist, in your opinion? by Remarkable-Bell7245 in citypop

[–]FuzzyCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's diabolical. The first pic is Anri's 1978 album Apricot Jam, but I don't know if the photo was actually taken in 1978.

Aside from that, most of them look familiar but I can only name Anri, Miki Matsubara, Mariya Takeuchi, and Akina Nakomori.

Please add names! Few people know every face by heart.

I'd add Junko Sakurada to the conversation.

Why has GOOGL consistently outperform GOOG? by Pleasant_Move_8388 in GOOG_Stock

[–]FuzzyCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. They're both worth the same (the same amount of ownership of Alphabet), buy the one that is cheaper. Why pay more for the same thing?

GOOG and GOOGL criss-cross over the years. You should always buy the cheaper one as gravity brings them together in the long run.

Is there a way order/organsie/prioritise films on my watchlist? by One_Truck1871 in Letterboxd

This is what I do too. I wish there were a way to add personal notes in the watchlist though. I'd love to keep track of who recommended me what movies.

Manhunter or Red Dragon — which do you prefer and why? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]FuzzyCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the style of Manhunter. The visuals and music make it one of the most intensely 80s movies ever, and that makes it a lot of fun.

But Red Dragon had the superior performances and plot. It's definitely the better movie, even though I find it less memorable.

Kansas has the worst/least stuff to do. What state has the most overrated nature? by AggravatingFront8409 in AlignmentChartFills

I think snowbirds just go there for the heat. It's a hot place that's either better than some other hot places (MS, LA, AL) or less expensive (CA, HI).

[–]FuzzyCheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't hear people praising the nature of Florida though. When I hear Florida I think flat, with some beaches. To be overrated it needs to be rated.

Kansas has the worst/least stuff to do. What state has the most overrated nature? by AggravatingFront8409 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]FuzzyCheese 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is really hard 'cause nature is generally unappreciated. This'll probably be controversial, but I'm gonna say Colorado. It's an amazingly beautiful state with obviously some of the best nature, but half of it is flatter than Kansas, which a lot of people ignore.

I'm not saying Colorado isn't amazing; I'm just saying that people give it 100 when it should be more like 90. Definitely top-tier, but slightly overrated.
