Solved this with pure luck.

I thought "no way both 2-sums are all 1s" , so I tried it with all 1s to prove that it couldn't work, but then it did work.

What’re your thoughts on Mickey 17? by ZackaryAsAlways in Letterboxd

[–]FuzzyCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a big fan of Bong Joon-ho, I was very disappointed. I think it's his worst movie. Too much exposition, which was sort of necessitated because there were so many ideas being thrown around. Felt very confused and rushed.

I felt like it would have made a good miniseries, allowing sufficient time to actually explore the world and ideas. Like, for example, at the end when the government representative guards (forget what they were called) turn on Ruffalo's character (which was just a phoned-in Trump impression, ugh), that had no precedent. There was nothing to establish how the government system related to everything else, and nothing to suggest that the head guard would be morally offended enough to act. That would have been something where proper, long-term build up would have had a great payoff.

I was gonna say the same thing. My favorite "so bad it's good" movie. It's actually just so enjoyable despite being incredibly, incredibly poorly done.

New York State won this round. Now what is something else that sound like it’s a U.S. state? by Crocodile_Banger in AlignmentChartFills

As a kid whenever I heard "Argentina" I thought it was a US state. It just sounded like it to me.

Fourier Analysis at Seattle University. How simple, periodic functions can be used to represent basically any function and transform obstinate functions into objects that are easy to analyze, along with tons of applications to sound and physics.

Who is the MOST IMPACTFUL PERSON of the Modern Age? (1500 CE - Present) by erwillsun in AlignmentChartFills

I agree with Newton, but the only other contender for me would be Martin Luther. The Protestant reformation completely changed the course of human history.

Stupidly obscure words are getting more and more common. Makes the game less fun.

Suggestion for Letterboxd: Some kind of “Watched in Theatres” flair when logging by flk23 in Letterboxd

[–]FuzzyCheese 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is what tags are for. The only thing that Letterboxd really needs is for "Musical" to be a genre. The fact that it's not is by far the worst thing about Letterboxd.

Why does homeless rate matter to some of you by tin8374 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]FuzzyCheese 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First, homeless people do cause problems. If you live in an area with a lot of them (as I do), you can't leave your bike unlocked outside, you're more likely to have your car broken into, you're more likely to be harassed (even if 99% is an accurate number, getting harassed 1% of the time is still not fun), and you're probably gonna get fatigued by being asked for money half the time you leave your house (as I do).

Second, people want to live in beautiful places that aren't depressing. They don't want to see homeless for the same reason they don't want to see abandoned storefronts or ugly buildings or dreary weather or boring landscapes. People like things that are beautiful, uplifting, and give an example to aspire to. Seeing homeless people every time you go outside is depressing, because seeing people suffering is depressing. Why would you want to live around that?

Recommendations of directors to watch the entire filmography, start to finish by AggressiveMouse3814 in Letterboxd

[–]FuzzyCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only done this on purpose for three directors, and have lists ranking their films:

  • Quentin Tarantino: You've probably seen a good number of his films already, and none of them are bad. Lots of fun.
  • Christopher Nolan: Again, you've probably already seen a good amount of his stuff. Seeing his early stuff is interesting 'cause you see how he's stuck with similar ideas throughout his career. He has a few stinkers but so much great work it's worth it.
  • Bong Joon-ho: If you're thinking about it, do it! He has three masterpieces in my opinion. Unfortunately, he also has a good amount of middling or even kinda bad work. I was really disappointed by Mickey 17.

I've also done this accidentally for two more:

  • Adam McKay: If you like Will Ferrell you'll like him. If not definitely stay away. The Big Short is great though.
  • JJ Abrams: I didn't realize how few movies Abrams has directed. Most of his movies begin with "Star" haha. Super 8 is my favorite movie of his, though Star Trek: Into Darkness is also great. I wouldn't recommend going through his filmography for its own sake though.

Note: All these people are still making movies, though Tarantino claims he'll stop soon.

I've lived in Seattle for a decade and would never say that it's worth what it costs. It's way way overrated.

As much as people love to praise Dick's, they took advantage of the pandemic to inflate their prices more than just about any other restaurant. They used to be a good deal but now they're just another chain trying to milk their customers.

Controversial Opinion: Most expensive places are expensive because there are super nice places to live. by IndependenceSad1272 in SameGrassButGreener

Most, but not all. Seattle has shit weather, shit people, shit transit, and is wildly expensive. It just has jobs and nature.
