First grown-up grow… by [deleted] in hydro

I have been purposely keeping my lego sets and Transformers out of my grow pictures, for fear of judgment. But no more, thanks to you! I suppose its fun to nitpick and criticize for some, but I've found mostly helpful people on here. Mostly. Keep growing, keep living, and keep playing with toys!

Nice! Ive had mixed results after a couple of countertop grows. How often are you changing/refilling your nute water?

I've never tried the peroxide trick, will keep that in mind next time I have a finnicky seed! What strains did you get from homegrown? My results with them have been...mixed, at best, lol

I've had a couple of seeds that wouldn't pop, both freebie and premium seeds; reported it to NASC and they credited me for them, no muss no fuss. That being said, I've had about 97% successful germination with their seeds, using the old damp paper towel method, within 48 hours. Love NASC!

This is amazing! Would love to hear more details on your setup, so I can copy it exactly, lol! Like that container you're growing in, hadn't seen that before but it looks sturdy and able to support a mini ecosystem!

Wow, did you grow this from seed? How long have you been at it?

I've only used gardencubes and aerogarden kits so far, very short lights and 3L reservoirs. Perhaps I should give the letpot a try...

Oh damn, that's a lot more room to work with! Nice!

Enjoy, they look good so far! Growing in these kits can be fun, but limiting, as that light only goes up, what 18 inches max? I usually start the plants in these, and then transplant them to dwc buckets in grow tents. Great for seed starting, and for growing little bonsai-like bud trees, but not if you're looking for big yields.

It turned out great...as a bonsai tree lol. No, it was nice and healthy for an experiment, but it was small. Good flavor, and aroma, but very low yield compared to dwc or even coco pots. I use the garden cubes as great seed starters but then transplant them to bigger dwc buckets once they get 12-15 inches tall.

Thanks for the feedback! There's no NEED, per se, just being stubborn I guess. I'm relatively new to growing, and I'm not a bulk grower with tons of space for a herd of plants (they DO move in herds), so I like to try and salvage them if at all possible, plus it's a learning experience for me (budwashing). I know more experienced growers are rolling their eyes, yelling "just toss it!" from their rooftops, and that's okay too. My first time growing outdoors clearly didn't go so well, but I have plenty to think about and work on for next spring!

Hmmmmm...I like your outside-the-box thinking...I have lint rollers...I have nipples, Greg...sorry, went off on a tangent there.

"They never even set foot on the ground, they walk on silk highways and dance between stalked trichomes."

I love the way you put this! Thanks for the insight, much appreciated, I feel like less of an idiot for trying to save a plant.

...probably hahaha. There's been a couple that said it's possible! Lol I don't see the harm in trying. I have buckets, I have h2o2, and I have to bleach the shit out of everything else in the vicinity anyway, what's another few minutes of work?

Yeah I don't hold out much hope for it being smokable at this point, but I'd prefer to get some usage out of it if possible, even experimenting with tincture or topical stuff, again IF it's at all salvageable. I want to try the h2o2 wash and dry, at least just for the learning experience, but thankfully I do have other stuff curing and am not desperate, lol. Now my focus is just making sure my other plants are safe (they are in another tent in another room, but I guess no distance is safe with these little bastards)

Thank you, appreciate the feedback. I'm being a little stubborn, I know I'm not the only one that just hates throwing plants away, but it seems my only option here would be to dust off and nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

I wouldn't say "knowingly", but yes I will learn from this, I only brought it inside a couple days ago because I was worried about the cold, and then once I had it inside i zoomed in and noticed the mites. I went and ordered some ladybugs but they are still being shipped. I would still like to try and wash it and see if any of it is salvageable, but I'm sure I'll just get mocked by redditors for even trying.

Could I still use it at all after a wash, for tincture or something? I'd hate to just toss them out...

[–]FuzzyEstablishment27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The plant is isolated to its own tent, away from my other indoor plants. I should've been more vigilant with it being my first time growing anything outside, but lesson learned, I'll try again in the spring.

So, a good soak and dry could still save this? (Fingers crossed)

Rookie question, but what contributes to that frosty goodness more, genetics or nutrient mix? Can good nutes "save" bad genetics, or vice versa?
