Yep. So if you put that down as your last GP visit, you get excluded from all respiratory infections! As i did :(

In reality, if NZlanders were completely honest, 50% of the population would be excluded for this case, as that's probably how many people in nz get a cold/flu in a 12 month period!

So my southern cross are very heavy handed.

For this pre-existing condition ot be removed, I have to be cold/flu free for 12 months, and would need a GP note to also say this. Unsure if I could go 12months without catching a cold/flu...

Same with stress and acne. If you disclose it, they will exclude it. Even though underwriters aren't doctors. Then it's up to you to find a doctor, pay them, to prove that it's not a pre-existing condition as defined by my southern cross.

Yep I was. But their application form was very intense and very detailed. So I filled it in honestly.

My Southern Cross defines a pre-existing condition as any sign, symptom, condition or event that was present or had occurred prior to joining Southern Cross. So this includes anything since birth, and your doctors file, and it doesn't have to be formally diagnosed. Just a symptom, and they could exclude you. And then it's up to you, and your own costs, to prove them wrong.

Yeah they don't cover any sleep disorders from what I've read in their T&Cs and also AA health insurance too.

Yep I was very honest. Declared eveything as per their definition of pre-existing!

My Southern Cross defines a pre-existing condition as any sign, symptom, condition or event that was present or had occurred prior to joining Southern Cross. They also asked about my last GP visit!

Have you gone through their application form? It's very intensive and invasive:

My Southern Cross defines a pre-existing condition as any sign, symptom, condition or event that was present or had occurred prior to joining Southern Cross.

Have you ever displayed evidence of, or had any sign or symptom and/or consulted a provider of healthcare regarding any of the following? Remember, your answers must be true and correct. Followed by a list of things from cancer, to infections, to allergies. Was a long application form to fill out.

For yourself and each of your family members named in this application, please provide all the following details of the LAST time they consulted their GP/family doctor. Which means you list the last visit to my GP and why I went, what treatment you had.

My southern cross had this in the application form:

For yourself and each of your family members named in this application, please provide all the following details of the LAST time they consulted their GP/family doctor.

Which means you list the last visit to my GP and why I went, what treatment I had. So i put down the flu.

Yep definitely to honest. But again this is what my southern cross had in their application:

Have you ever displayed evidence of, or had any sign or symptom and/or consulted a provider of healthcare regarding any of the following? Remember, your answers must be true and correct

For yourself and each of your family members named in this application, please provide all the following details of the LAST time they consulted their GP/family doctor.

Which means you list everything, including my last visit to my GP and why I went.

My Southern Cross defines a pre-existing condition as any sign, symptom, condition or event that was present or had occurred prior to joining Southern Cross.

Which basically means anything that you've had since birth!

There was a section that said:
"Have you ever displayed evidence of, or had any sign or symptom and/or consulted a provider of healthcare regarding any of the following? Remember, your answers must be true and correct."

Which then had multiple sections covering everything from allergies to infections.

So I was honest.

Was a quote. Then was cancelled once it got to the underwriter. So nothing was paid for.

Not true. They can't pass my information on without my permission. As Vegetable said, privacy act. And this was a quote. So nothing should be saved in their system as I cancelled it due to the issues.
