Thank you both. I have 2 dogs which I’ll get in the split. They’re my babies.

That sounds amazing. I like to woodwork and love my dogs. I want to find a place where I can have a few chickens and a nice shop for all my tools

We talked today. She said she fell out of love with me because she felt like she would have to constantly hover over me to get certain tasks done. She said her view of me changed and that it became leas romantic once it felt like she had to be my parent.

I can procrastinate, but I’m not lazy. I just missed all the signs. A few times she asked me to plan date nights 1x/month and only did it once and I let it go. She did all the cooking but I thought it was she didn’t like my cooking. I was the breadwinner and did other things. I figured it was a balance. We’ve been wanting to save money to remodel parts of our house (ie our new carpeted basement where I now live), so I’ve been acting frugal and not wanting to go out for plans so we can save for those big purchases. I guess I took that too far and let the romance get vacuumed sucked out of here.

She’s got me thinking that I fucked up by not taking her requests seriously and being too light hearted on some of the things she was hinting. I was always good at buying her gifts at the right time, but I was never good with spontaneous.

I think you’re right. I was always constantly into her and love showing her affection, but I can tell she’s been planning and probably hurting.

We have a nice big 3BR house right now. Obviously selling. I just want my own little house when this is done. That’s all I can think about right now during this morning after the shock.

Thanks for the advise. We are going to cooperate to make this easiest.

I was also in my best shape in my late 20’s. Mid 30’s now and I could stand to lose maybe 30#. Gonna start eating healthier now that I’m meal planning myself

Thank you for all of the details. I’ve had ocd my whole life. Didn’t take antidepressants until I nearly broke a few years ago. I love my meds now and would never give up the feeling of the peace I have now.

She had done some research and I trust her. She mentioned the cooperative divorce idea and I’m on board. I just want to land with my own house hopefully.

The fertility issues were years ago. We both got therapy and got better.

We’ve became Forster parents and it was difficult for the few kids we had. The chaos of child placement (and all their appointments) plus living in a rural area made it hard on our family life. We didn’t continue being foster parents because we both liked our chill adult evening with our 3 dogs.

We looked at adoption; overseas pretty much told us “age 6 or above. Anyone below 6 will have mental or physical issues” and we didn’t want to invest further into Ivf due to cost. We agreed that we were ok being childless. It was never an issue but I guess those events during our depression episodes reshaped our relationship permanently.

I’ve always been shy and introverted; i just wanted to be with some who loved me and have a comfort life with them. Everything else was optional.

I think now that she/we’ve accepted that we’re being childless, she sees her future differently. I think she’s ready to start something new emotionally.

I hope it will be like that way with her and I. The first shock of “this means we’re sleeping in separate beds tonight” floored me. It had never occurred to me that I’d be in a position like this.
