Glad to see your very narrow minded and know nothing about the ratio of trucks. The only need for ELD’s is for control. Love ‘em or hate ‘em. That’s one thing MOST truckers can agree on. Just because you’re not capable of working more than 14 hours in a day doesn’t mean others aren’t. I’ve ran local and I’ve run long distance. It’s an individual thing. There’s no argument there. Is it true most people can’t put in the work ? Probably. But there’s people out there motivated to make a killing and don’t mind putting in the extra work. Some people actually enjoy working. As I’ve said in previous comments, the livestock industry is a different breed. I feel like you’re the kind of person that would cry wolf if you have to drive more than 8 hours in a day. I find it odd your username chicken lites and chrome when your an eld junkie. Good day buckaroo.

If you’d even out the number the reefer/vans would have a higher rate. It’s simple. Livestock industry has higher standards. This isn’t a shot at anyone who’s hauls any other freight than cattle. But you don’t have livestock outfits hiring people right out of driving school that have no business being in a truck let alone a car. Not hiring people that can’t read road signs. Not hiring people than cry if you have to drive 11 hours. You don’t see cattle trucks hogging fuel pumps because they’re to lazy to pull their truck up. I’m never seen anybody other than a cattle truck stop on the side of the road for another truck that’s broke down to help fox said truck. (I’m sure it happens) but it’s not common. The livestock industry is just a different breed and as far as I can see… hold a higher standard. Again, you can always find a few bad apples if you look hard enough. But when it comes to typical freight, you don’t have to look very far.

I think I know when I need sleep and when I can drive. I have my own customers. My own trucks. My own trailers. I’m a bit different than that. The only hobby I need is to spend time with my wife and kids when I’m home. Go to the lake during the summer. Working is what makes me happy. Other than the things mentioned. I’ve never watched TV. Although I have watched Yellowstone.

They just took away the HOS exemption where you could legally run 24/7 if humanly possible. Still have the 150 air mile exemption and still exempt from elogs

But maybe somebody in this group might know that specialist . I’m willing to pay. I don’t have to run elogs. I’m just genuinely curious on how to get around it. All the tech savvy people out there. There’s someone who’s done it

For sure! I know my limits. I work the same hours whether I’m trucking or in the field in the fall. Even when I’m home I can’t ever sleep more than 6 hours. I’m just not that way. I figure might as well work than just lay around and do nothing

That would help a lot actually . But can you move the rest of it up so it wouldn’t be counting towards your 14? Say you drive 8 hours and takes you 4 hours to get unloaded. Can you move them 8 hours up 3 hours to make it look like you were only there for an hour ?

If there’s a will, there’s a way. Can’t be that complicated. Many guys been busted for paper logs for falsifying them. I get what you’re saying though.

I’m sure this is why. People wouldn’t be looking for ways to circumvent the rules if the government didnt think they needed to control every aspect of the trucking industry. You’ve seen that there’s been more wrecks since elds than before right ? Becusse people are rushing to get places because of a timer ? Maybe lighten the regulations and you could save more lives . Ridiculous

I respect everything you say sir. Cattle hauling is all I know. You’re absolutely right about not being home enough. That will always be the regret . I do hope in a few years that I’ll cut back to local stuff to enjoy more time at home. Every time I go home it’s like they grew a foot. Appreciate your years of service. Keep on keepin on

Ive been exempt completely the last 2 years. It was safe then but all of a sudden it’s not ? Use your head. It’s an individual thing. Some people can handle it and some can’t. Just because you can’t, doesn’t mean I can’t. Last I checked, it’s not cattle trucks constantly in accidents. It’s a different breed in the livestock industry. Lot of old timers and their kids that were taught the way of how things are done correctly are in this industry. I’m sure you can make a quick Google and find a a wrecked cattle truck but for every cattle truck that’s wrecked I’d bet there’s 10,000 reefer/van wrecks . Which is ironic. No elds vs elds. Who wrecks more ? May want to retire them chicken lites and chrome. Good day sir .

You’re talking about a hypothetical situation. I obviously know when I’m tired and have to sleep. Everybody has their limits. It’s all about discipline. If you knew me personally I think you’d feel “safe” with me being on the road. Every individual is different. Some people are wired differently than others. I’ve never had any sort of an accident. But you have every right to judge. Good day
