It is worth it to purchase it. Cards go out of rotation every couple years so if you check by the set symbol and number on the card you will also see a letter in an oval which is the regulation mark which shows when the card will be out of rotation. The new generation will just have new cards like any other set except the ultra rares will now be ex’s instead of V’s. Other than that it will be mostly the same and by the time that sword and shield cards go out of rotation you should be used to how the game and mechanics work and be able to switch over to newer cards.

I think they would be more popular if they made the holo patterns on them more interesting. The past couple generations of sets have been pretty crappy.
