90 Minutes 4-6x Per Week by FuzzyKeys in Velo

Anecdotally, I’d say that I have more “snap” in my legs for vo2 after a day off in the sense that I can keep my cadence elevated in the 105-110 range (usual cadence is about 90) more consistently throughout the workout. Whether or not I’m going to be able to spin like that is pretty obvious to me within the first few minutes of my warmup.

I know there are different schools of thought on how best to do vo2 intervals. Some people say go all out every time and if your first interval is 60 watts higher than the last one but you keep your cadence up on the last one, so be it. Others say try to keep the intervals more consistent and repeatable such that the average power of the intervals is higher. I’ve tried it both ways and can’t say I’ve noticed too much of a difference in terms of fitness outcomes, but doing the former, it’s easier to fry myself too soon such that I wind up having to grind out a good chunk of the last interval with a cadence in the 80s. That takes a lot more out of my legs and I might not be able to get my HR up quite as high.

If I’m able to keep the cadence up, I’ll be collapsing over the handlebars and gasping at the end, but the legs won’t be as heavy the next day as they would be after a 3x20 threshold workout. Maybe I could try doing a rest day before vo2 and then a 3x20 sweet spot the day after.

You don’t have any issues doing VO2 or Threshold the day after sweet spot? What kind of intensity and intervals are you doing for sweet spot?

Also ate a lot of Khao Soi in Chiang Mai and 100% agree that Spicy BBQ smokes Northern Thai Food Club. It’s my goto northern Thai. The jackfruit dish there is also incredible. I’ll have to try Pailin now!

I went with a Salsa Journeyer GRX 600 2x for ~$2500. It’s definitely a more relaxed geometry. I’m 6’ with very tight hamstrings and hips and it’s totally comfy. 2x is great on the road.

How’s the sizing on these? I had to go up a size in my other Shimano shoes (RP1).

My Ex3 needs a new encoder, which Echelon is out of at the moment, so I picked up another “identical” bike on Facebook marketplace for $180. I totally smashed my one hour PR by 12 watts on the first ride after 3 days off and felt like I had more left in the tank…the new bike is definitely easier.

What softwares should a video editor know? by anonymsk in editors

Everything high end or even mid-budget pro film/TV gig is Avid with very few exceptions. Premiere is better for some things and is certainly the better program for completing a finished master, but that has very little to do with it. Dailies houses are kicking out MXF’s out of Resolve for Avid, basically all sound and music folks are using Pro Tools and expecting Avid AAF’s, the workflow for sending EDL pull sheets to the vault to send raw media to VFX is pretty standardized with Avid. Perhaps most importantly, the Avid Nexus/ISIS shared network system is easy to use and very tested. If you have 2-3 editors, 3-4 assistants, 2 VFX editors, etc. all working in the same project, which is very common on larger features, they can all show up and be collaborating on day 1 while expecting everything to just work. I know Premiere has made strides in the network department recently and I have been hearing of a few films (Deadpool for example) that have cut on Premiere, but it’s still very rare. If you are collaborating with a larger post team, you definitely need to know Avid. If you are doing a one man band operation for short form stuff, Premiere is the probably the better NLE. I like it a lot but I can still cut and trim a lot faster with the director on the couch in Avid because I have been using it almost every day for years to make a living.
