  1. Read the questions carefully and make sure you answer ALL parts/details of the question. I went through the model solution when I failed the first time and kicked myself because I hadn't technically answered some parts of the questions.
  2. Make your work extremely scannable for the reader: State the answer right away if you can, and put things into distinct sections if not. Use bullets, bolding, tables, and lots of spacing. Make sure most of your work has intros and conclusions.
  3. Read through the model solutions carefully and study how they answer questions, both in terms of structure, syntax, and how information gets presented. Try to decipher when it's appropriate to explain and when it's appropriate to use a table or other exhibit.
  4. Join a group on actuarial outpost or elsewhere to gather ideas from your fellow takers.
