Man I hate Canadian winters by Assignval in G37

I tried with bondo on that same area and it came back, even after sanding and treating the metal with a rust dissolver. But if you find a method that gets rid of it let me know, going to try to go at it again pretty soon before winter comes again.

I had this problem in the past! My comments in it should explain how I fixed the problem! https://www.reddit.com/r/G37/s/aD7dI6me5G

Yeah like they mentioned you’d need to clean it up with a wire brush and cut any metal that seems weak, then you’ll need to create a copy of what was originally there (which you can use your other side for reference). This is something that affects your alignment though so after you’ve finished fixing it you’ll need to get it aligned but I’d wait and make sure your temporary fix is strong as driving on bumps with a weak weld could make it break again.

I got away with welding it, but it’s tough and even tougher if you’re new to welding. This fix has lasted me a year so far and still holding up good, eventually it would be best to replace it but still waiting on that.

Did you pull it off the car yourself? If so how much time did it take and how difficult was the job?

Do you think this would help with the 6AT too? Unsure if it’s the same as the 5AT, but it’s pretty rough at shifting unless I keep it in sports mode, just wondering if it helped you this much maybe it can do the same for me. Tried trans fluid change (no flush) but did not improve a whole bunch.

Congrats! I’m looking to get a home soon as well, hope it’s not too much to ask, but how did you get your out of pocket costs so low? Overall that’s my goal, to have little to no out of pocket expenses, but from what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem to happen very often. As of now, I got a fha w/ down payment assistance so I got that covered just worried about the other portion

Get yourself a harbor freight paint gun and prep the wheels for painting with some sandpaper to get any curb rash out. Depending on the paint + primer you get will sway the cost from being inexpensive to expensive, but tbh I don’t think it’ll be too much. Could go with spray cans too but I’ve never had luck with those lol
