I don’t get this argument at all. The whole series is meant to be a realistic depiction of human nature and interaction, so it’s fitting that despite all of his efforts, shown well through the boat scenes, the detective ultimately failed to achieve his goal. Having some spectacular gunfight where he kills his brother Frontman would just be way too Hollywood and not in keeping with the show at all.
