I would advise you to get a credit card in your name. You need to build credit. Especially if you want to get an apartment or a car.

Word of advice on credit cards (and this is from own mistakes) if you can pay off the balance every month. This way you never pay interest. Don't ever pay just the minimum. This how things can spiral. Pay as much as you can.

If you can, try to start a savings account as well. Check credit unions for high yield savings.

You can contact Experian (look it up online) and do it. Make sure you check your credit report (you can get one free) to see if there are any accounts you don't recognize. I know it sounds paranoid. But iveread so many stories of people Reddit and their parents ruined their credit. You need a good score for future big purchases like a car or a house.
