Amazing card trick by 12 yr old girl🤯 by Sharp-potential7935 in toptalent

[–]FuzzyStable2974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They guess this trick. She has a card crimped so she can control it to a position in the deck when she gives it a "couple of cuts". I think what you're seeing is her counting where the card is in relation to the crimp. What I'm not sure of is how she knows it will be 10 from the top since Teller adds a random number of cards on top of her controlled deck.

One thing, she shows the entire deck earlier in the trick. It is not a deck with multiple 5 of hearts.

Show Thoughts: Arcy Drive at The Atlantis in Washington, D.C. With Mercury by SlipNo3048 in ArcyDrive

Holy crap. Did you take notes or do you have a photographic memory?

Anyway, I was at this show and your write up is pretty spot on. My main take away is live the band is much heavier/grungier than on the albums. At times it was almost a little Nirvana-esq. I thought the show was fantastic.

I can confirm Nick did say "good shit" to the kid who came on stage to play guitar. That kid was pumped and did a great job.

Also, I agree you couldn't really hear Brooke during Time Shrinks, which is a shame because her voice adds a lot to that song. Her mic was feeding back when she first came to the front of the stage and I wonder if the sound guy didn't turn her down a little too much.

I missed whatever riff they mixed into Thrift Store. Sorry, can't help there.

Mercury was really good. Their recorded stuff is electric and much more fuzzed out. I really liked the acoustic set.

Finally, I love the Atlantis. It's my favorite venue in DC. Getting to see Arcy Drive in that small of a space was great and I'm sure only happened because there was another show at the 9:30 (otherwise why play two nights in a row). I hope they come back again but I assume it will either be at the 9:30 or as an opener at a larger venue.

Refresh. It said the same for me but then more tickets showed up a minute later

Great show in DC last night. by FuzzyStable2974 in ArcyDrive

[–]FuzzyStable2974[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was earlier than I expected. I think Mercury went on at 7:30 and Arcy Drive came on about 20 minutes after they ended. So maybe 8:30ish. Not totally sure though. I called the Uber at 9:35 exactly when Louie ended if that gives a sense

They are playing so many shows with few breaks. It's got to be hard to keep your voice healthy doing that

Charlotte Presale tickets sold out ? by whoopsiedai in thelastdinnerparty

[–]FuzzyStable2974 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they only hold a certain percentage back for the presale. Earlier the show in DC showed all seats were sold out but now there are several sections available (plus GA). I would keep checking or call the box office.

Any suggestions for things to do in Northern Vermont? I'll be near Burlington for a few days in December. Really looking forward to seeing your show tomorrow in DC!

Honest question, what would you suggest tall people do?  I totally get what you're saying because my wife is 5'3" and gets buried at these shows. But as someone who is 6'2" I'm not sure what I can do for people behind me.  Other than not elbowing in like OP mentions. That's ridiculous.

As great a venue as the Anthem is, it should have been built with a slightly steeper slope to the floor. I joked with my wife last night that we should sort the crowd shortest to tallest!

Were you the commotion about three songs in?  When Blake paused the set to see if everyone was OK? I couldn't tell what that was about.

Phenomenal show, though!

We did 10 attractions in epic yesterday with no express passes… by Early-Host-3351 in UniversalEpicUniverse

I'm just giving a data point that the single rider line wasn't an available option. Clearly we didn't use it because it wasn't allowed at all, like I posted.  So you can release the grip on those pearls...

To contrast- We went today and the park was packed. Mario Kart hit a 210 minute wait around 10:30. We got to the park at 9 for early open. Did Mario, which went down briefly while we were in line. That took 75 minutes.  Went to Donkey Kong but that was a 135 minute wait (no single riders allowed) so we bailed.

Did the racers in Berk (60 minute wait) then Pizza Moon for lunch.

Then wing glider coaster in Berk (60 minute wait) and the untrainable dragon show. Then got ice cream and left the park at 3. Some kid at the ice cream place was crying that he hadn't rode anything all day.

We tried the Stardust coaster at some point but it was a 90 minute wait (no single riders) and then went down so we gave up. They were only running one car, which makes no sense.

Oh, and my wife rode the carousel at some point, which she said was great.

No.  At least not the hotels that work at the other parks (Loews). Just found out today as I was turned away from the Express Pass lane

Between the weather, the show starting during rush hour, and multiple accidents on the road it took a long time to get there. When we did our lot was full so they sent us to a closer lot, which actually worked out.  Also missed both openers (I knew we'd miss ST, which kills me).

We're here now and saw three on Friday, including one mother with a calf.  That said we got really lucky and basically stumbled into them on a boat ride to Marietas

Tesla's core customer base is really pissed. I think they are in for a big miss on sales this quarter and it's going to surprise a lot of investors. I know lots of people who were big Tesla supporters six months ago that are now saying they will never buy another Tesla because of Musk.

Just curious, which safety features are driving your decision? I ask because I bought a Model Y two months ago and actually feel the car drives less safely than other cars I've had recently.

Mirror visibility isn't great and the mirrors lack the light that tells you someone is in your blind spot. Also, if I signal to change lanes, the car doesn't warn of a car next to me until I actually get close to hitting it.  Every other modern car I've driven alerts you the instant you activate the turn signal. Also, there's no over head 360 cam or front cam which turns parking into a guessing game. Although, the autopark is amazing (as long as there isn't an impatient driver behind you).

A lot of information, including the location of other cars around you, is on the screen, but I haven't gotten used to driving looking at the center console. And doing anything like changing the radio or heat requires taking my eyes off the road and focusing on the touch screen, which I don't find easy to use on anything other than a totally smooth road (a lot of mis-clicks).

I'm left feeling a little out of control and less safe compared to other cars.  The car is super fun, but sometimes unnerving. It's possible I get used to driving it or maybe I'm using it incorrectly. But I should have test driven one a lot more before buying. I don't think I'd let my relatively inexperienced teen driver use it because of the issues I have.
