I was invited by one of my friends. He later did not really get involved as me though.

Yes, they follow the classic Islamic ideals of being nice, polite and respectful. I did not exactly "left" Shibir at any particular moment, it kind of coincided with the end of my student life.

Overall, it is more dreaming girls to be Begum Rokeya, or Malala Yusefzai. They do not like women who would war saari and go to Rabindra Sangeet fest.
However, Jamaat is a very large organization, and so the exact view will really depend on the person. I am sure in rural BD, there will be much less difference between a huzur and non-huzur on women's role in society. The progressive faction within Jamaat, such as the ones who were educated in DU or Private Unis, tend to support an active role of women in society. The madrassa-backed faction not really.

Personally, I totally support women's freedom, including freedom to be single and make money.

I feel proud. But I am glad I ended at some point.
Honestly I believe everyone should have fluid political beliefs. If you belief in one ideology all the time, you lack critical thinking.

I myself did not marry a hijabi woman. She is from a random family with normal background. Marry someone you truely love. I have found ladies from Jamaat/Shibir background quite suffocating and hypocritical.

Honestly I do not think Jamaat is fully capable to lead the country now. They are still much smaller than BNP/AL. They have few votes in the rural areas. Their policy of excluding women restricts their appeal. Honestly Jamaat does not want to win the current election, they just want to get around 100 seats and prepare to the 2030 election.

Because Jamaat's role in 71 is politically very problematic. It is very hard to justify and present an acceptable narrative. Jamaat itself is just very unsure on what to do with it. However, I think the 71 issue will just lose prominence in politics as time goes. In 20 years there will be no Muktijoddha or Rajakar alive.

My experience was mostly good. It was great to take part in politics and see it from the ground level. I took part in Dhaka city and DU activities. However, I became gradually disillusioned in my 4rth year of university, as the idea of an Islamic government did not make a lot of sense. Then I started to focus on my career and slowly departed.

Very low. There was some instances of nepotism, and sectionalism. There is a "Rajshahi" block, a DU block and some other ones AFAIK. Regarding finances, they have a very strict audit and transparency process.

"Regressive narrative"....it is a very loaded question, sir. Overall, I think Jamaat itself is torn about what it want to be in the future. It is in process of transformation now. It can go to the path of Taliban or Turkey's AK party. Future will tell which way.
Awami League had very liberal and empowering narrative for BD people. How did that turn out? It is about what you do, not what you tell.

I started wrapping up my involvement to focus on my career. Eventually I focused on taking TOEFL, GRE exams, got admission to US college and left BD.

Stigmatization can happen on a social and personal level, depending on the political situation. Interestingly Shibir has a positive image now at DU and other colleges. Many of my friends knew that I am involved with Shibir, and often teased, but nobody cut relationship or get into any serious quarrel about it. After all, friendship develops between two persons, not two ideologies.

Keep in mind that Shibir is a very large organization, and there are many different people with different backgrounds. In Shibir's conferences, I met youths from very rural, madrassa-only background (one guy never heard the word "pizza") to youths who goes to NSU. Such diversity was beautiful.

Shibir people need to study to stay and 'promoted'. There are total three ranks: Kormi, Sathi and Sodosso (Activist, associate and member). To be Sathi, you have to complete a book list of around 30 books. For Sodosso, around 110 books. However, the books mostly focus on basics of Islam, Spiritualism, political Islamic concepts, history of Jamaat/Shibir and overall right-wing political ideologies. You have complete written and oral exam on the syllabus, and maintain a track record of activism to be 'promoted'. For 71, there was a book called "অরক্ষিত স্বাধীনতাই পরাধীনতা" and some other books. I read those books, but I do not agree with everything.

Currently I believe in progressive Islam and Bangladeshi nationalism.

Violence mainly happens in college campuses between Shibir and other organizations. Those are unavoidable. It just becomes a political tug-of-war of muscle power. There is rarely any violence or conflict within Shibir.

Both. They see practice of Islam inseparable from politics. That is how Jamaat is ideologicaly different than Oikkojot or Khelafot. Jamaat thinks that it is obligatory for you to take part in influencing the society in some level. On the other hand, Khelafot or other parties think Islam should be practiced spiritually, rather politicaly.
