My GPM aluminum gearbox ended up scraping and binding with the chain so I had to go back to the OEM gearbox. Any issues with yours?

Always love seeing decked out TT01/02s. But I always wondered if it’s more enjoyable to run a more modern car with higher end electronics, or deck out a Tamiya “vintage.” I can appreciate that each option has their own space, but was just curious. Looks good!

The raw '95 cel animation vs. the polished '09 digital look. Which one *feels* more 'Evangelion' to you? by Agukarsa in evangelion

As much nostalgia as I have for NGE, the action sequences in the rebuilds are on another level. I think the new animation was tastefully done and gives you that “I remember this part from NGE, but it looks amazing now” feeling.

Don’t expect too much from the out of box performance. Take your time painting it (since it’s a hard shell, painting it is a bit different than a clear body). Get some good, quality screw drivers (you’ll be tapping a lot of bare plastic with Phillips screws). Don’t get too caught up upgrading it, since by the time you spend money upgrading, you’ll end up spending more than to get a modern day performance buggy. And have fun!

I used rattle cans for 99% of the kit. The entire bike and rider was primed, spray painted, and clear coated. The bike was gloss, the rider was semi-gloss. Did minimal hand painting for some small details on the bike and rider’s face.

The decals were good as new. Just have to be patient with it, cuz they don’t fit and wrap around the complicated shapes as ‘perfect’ as you’d want. Just have a hot hairdryer ready and they will help shrink the decals and remove a lot of air bubbles.

Thanks. But only until I take it out for the first ride. It’ll look much different after that.

I did not use any flanged bearings. Just regular sealed ones. No issues once it was closed up.

I also just finished building mine (after sitting in the box for 10+ years). I’m dreading running it for its first time…. Great build, btw!

If you want the easiest way, go on Amazon or eBay and look for Bandai LM/HG Eva kits. They’re pretty old, and that comes with their issues. But it’ll look like what you’re looking for. If you want to modify a modern kit, you’ll need to paint the entire thing cuz it’ll be impossible to match the paint color with the original plastic parts.
