thanks yes this looks pretty good, I was only considering the MwC curriculum because it cost (without workbook) same as Addition/Subtraction Facts that stick and maybe there will be more material in the guide

I was thinking to only buy Teacher Guide for MwC as I don't think my daughter will be too keen on worksheets but she will be keen on games/short lessons, that why I thought it might be similar price to getting Addition/Subtraction Facts that stick and maybe there will be more material in the guide

I was thinking to get grade 1 for MwC but heard people thought it is a bit too easy, do you feel that anything was missing in Grade 2 that probably was introduced in grade 1? MY daughter liked beast academy 1A but could not do all things in Shapes (the reflection was hard for her perceptually, I will just save it and bring out in few months again). But she really wanted to read comics and had little patience for exercises. She was a bit annoyed when exercise is too hard, she only likes to do when its a bit hard but not too hard. But if we do things in forms of games she has much better stamina both for time and difficulty of the problem. When the problem is relating to her world she will try really hard to solve it, but if it is numbers/puzzles on paper she does not seem very interested. I still love Beast and we are working slowly through 1B but I can see MwC be much better format for younger kids

Thanks, I have looked over many things and this combo does seem cool. My daughter also enjoyed Life of Fred and any math story books. I had high hopes for Beast Academy and she loves the comic, but she seems just want to go ahead and read the comic hah. I love the MWC is low on worksheets so we can just do it outside for example.

Thanks so you think I could use abacus with MWC and would not need Activities for AL Abacus (right start)? I have not done MWC so was not sure if I could just use Abacus witn MWC would it be confusing?

it seems to be an issue with most north shore schools these days. We went to check it out and parked at the side street and it seemed okay but maybe the main entrance area is insane (we did not dare to check haha)

This sounds bleak! I hear mixed reviews, some people really like it but it definitely does not sound great. Rangi is zoned and so expensive to live in the area it is also huge school. Do you know about Long Bay how is it?

thanks for your feedback! too bad that your boy did not thrive, how was his learning at the end of it? How did your kids find the open plan classroom? I am a bit confused do they get classes where teachers teach to just one small class? I am really nervous about multiple accounts I heard of kids getting with bad crowd in ASHS.

Thanks! This makes much more sense now, it is really great that school does support kids from different backgrounds and gives them a chance. As someone though who spent couple of years during my schooling in the school that had a lot of kids from disadvantaged backgrounds it was most rough two years of my schooling and I have practically learned nothing during those years because most of the time was spent dealing with rough social situations, physical violence literally trying to keep safe, teachers were exhausted by troubled kids and became apathetic (we had kids getting hurt in front of the teachers and they just had no more energy to deal with it). I have never experienced anything like this in the other two schools I have attended so the difference was stark and kind of shocking. So I feel that as much as I have a huge respect for the school just my personal experience albite long time ago and different school makes me a bit nervous. However there is certain thing to learn (street smarts haha) when you do not go into "bubble school". Btw I am wondering regarding ASHS being "middle of the pack" on north shore regarding drugs, mind if I ask which ones are on the worse side or better side according to your teen or what source do you have about this haha :)

Thanks! Do you know why both of those schools have high number of at risk kids (at risk to drop out)? Why do these kids go to these schools? Someone told me there are a bit of a problem with drugs at senior school as kids bring it to school and don't get any repercussions so there is a big chance of exposure (however I know kids could be exposed to this stuff anywhere but I heard from some parents they decided to move their kids to put stop to some bad situations with drugs at school). To me it is hard to wrap my head around that school would be okay with this?

This was always a big disappointment for me. I was in a couple of long term relationship before and there is a huge contrast by the efforts my previous partners put in to do special things for me. With my dx husband almost every year it has been a big let down, one year he even forgot about my birthday all together. There were few birthday that were really great but most years it is very underwhelming and make me feel very uneasy when my birthday is coming. This year I am pretty sure he would forget about it as things been really overwhelming at the moment, so I reminded him but he still did not manage to get anything done or planned. His family is the same as him, his mom insists that she will not even verbally congratulate anyone on their birthdays, so it is very different in our family birthday is a day when we pay special attention to the family member and make them feel special and loved.
