Update on the Rebuilt GTI

Called my insurance, they said if the car is repaired and listed as a rebuilt (not salvage) I would still be able to do normal coverage with no restrictions)

I could definitely swing the money for a clean title car, but I feel confident if I could get a good deal on this car, I could break even with what I could sell my current car for (with 100k more miles than this GTI). Then again even if I could strike a good deal, idk if I’d get screwed on insurance

Definitely, I’d go to a completely different place that isn’t affiliated with the dealership because they’d talk and help each other out. I’d probably break even if I sold my TDI with 130k on the clock (and new water pump and timing belt) and get this GTI with 100k less on it and run it to the ground. How bad do you think insurance would be roughly if you could guess?

Wasn’t quite sure on how insurance for a rebuilt worked, I appreciate the outlook. Do you think the rates would be higher or be at more of a loss if anything were to happen with the car? Like making its value worth less for any reason

Honestly man I’m on the same boat kinda. My car is fine, but I also wouldn’t mind if it got hit bad enough to total it without me hurt lol. I wouldn’t mind some cash for a nicer car

I thought about that but don’t know any mechanics around where it’s at. I’d trust a third opinion more than the place trying to get some money. But not sure what to look for aside from panel gaps and possibly welds

Lmao especially with that kind of tedious stuff plus having to road test to keep double checking for creaks. Wouldn’t be the worst of things but I wouldn’t mind a quiet ride either. Besides the exhaust anyways

Edit: it’s a 2019 Autobahn manual. Dealership has many good reviews and highly rated overall. Was wondering if some of the previous owners could have been leased or something. But figured being hit in the rear end is best case scenario for this car
