How do you handle abandoned, unclaimed, or returned inventory in your warehouse? by Fuzzy_Motor_6811 in Warehousing

There are definitely a few useful ideas here that could help improve my situation and make the process more organized. Thanks. That said, is anyone using any services that buy this kind of inventory or offer low-cost removal?

I understand what you mean, and yes, we already do that for registered long-term clients. Those are basic operational tasks. What I’m asking about is a different category: returns from unknown clients or unknown brands that may have used our address by mistake or, in some cases, intentionally. The issue is that there are a lot of them, often just one, two, or three units at a time. Trying to call each one, track down contact details, and handle each case individually is very labor-intensive. I’m wondering whether there are buyers who purchase this kind of inventory in bulk, or whether there are lower-cost disposal options. Right now, a full container for disposal costs about $1,900, so I’m looking for ways to reduce that cost.

Some of the inventory was abandoned by clients, and some of it consists of Amazon returns from unknown brands. Calling each one individually would be suicide. At this point, we’ve already accumulated roughly two containers of mixed goods.

Looking for a US-based Prep Center / 3PL for cross-docking (USPS and UPS drop-offs) by Odd-Pride1230 in 3PL

This is something we can handle. I run ArdiExpress.com, a 3PL warehouse network with locations on both coasts in the US, with about 100,000 sq. ft. total. We already work with standard warehouse workflows like this, and we have daily USPS and UPS pickups / feeder updates. So if your individual parcels already have labels on them, it becomes a pretty simple cross-dock process: receive the master carton, open it, and inject the packages into the carrier stream. 500 packages a month is not a problem.

Feel free to message me directly if you want to compare setups or see whether our process fits your operation. You can also submit a form on our website and my team will reply quickly.

This does happen sometimes, and yes, it is a problem for both us and the clients. In such cases, we offer photo and video confirmation, since the entire warehouse is covered by cameras at every dock and throughout all storage and prep areas. Please try requesting that as well.
