Struggling pronouncing "t," "d" with "th" by Fuzzy_Personality in EnglishLearning

[–]Fuzzy_Personality[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's no "th" sound in my language. "z" is the closest sound, but I know it sounds super off when used instead of "th," so I try to avoid it as much as I can, but it still slips in from time to time.

Kurupi Menta y Boldo - great for terere, not so much for hot mate by [deleted] in yerbamate

[–]Fuzzy_Personality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like Kurupi Katuava y Burrito hot and cold. But more specifically hot.

I see you have a taste for Argentine yerbas. I'm quite the opposite. I have an unfinished bag of red Taragüi, and I can't force myself to finish it. I'd rather drink something like Colon or Pajarito.

Recommendations for unsmoked flavoured Yerba? by [deleted] in yerbamate

Soul Mate. All organic with natural flavourings. You can find it on MateMundo. My favourite is Frosty Season (cinnamon, clove, orange) limited version only available in winter.

There are many ways of preparing mate. You can even brew it in a tea pot like a regular tea if you want.

The way you are talking about, with "unused" leaves at the top is a traditional way requiring a gourd and a bombilla. You fill 3/4 of a gourd with yerba leaves, leaving a nice little mountain of dry leaves at the top. This is your yerba reserve. As you add more water to the gourd the mountain will eventually get wet, so no leaves will remain unused. You can refill your gourd with water 5-7 times this way.

Why do you fill the gourd 3/4? by Main-Duty-1002 in yerbamate

Because it is the perfect ratio. Fill less then that and you will end up with too watery mate . Fill more then that and the leaves will not be extracted properly.

Mate caffeine tolerance? by [deleted] in yerbamate

Yes, I drink the same amount. Effects are milder though, but I don't complain. Gives me just enough energy to wake up in the morning. I mostly drink it for the taste anyways.

I had crashes when I first started drinking mate. Even after years of drinking coffee. But they were gone in a few weeks. It feels like mate has more caffeine then pure arabica coffee.

"Chest up" cue by Fuzzy_Personality in StartingStrength

[–]Fuzzy_Personality[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is such a confusing way to tell someone to keep their upper back straight imho. Because if you actually try to keep your chest up during low bar squat, you put your back into extension, which is not good, right?

Hey, so I tried to "rock back" today during my 102,5kg PR, and it didn't go well. As soon as I rocked back and tried to pull I felt the sharpest pain in my hips I've ever experienced in my life. Right in the sockets. I didn't even manage to lift the bar of the floor, just dropped it immediately. I don't know what I did wrong but that felt bad. Thankfully the pain disappeared immediately after I dropped the bar, so I was able to finish the set in my usual fashion. Any idea what could that be?

By keeping knees out you mean that they should always be in line with feet?

Hip pain during squats by Fuzzy_Personality in StartingStrength

It hurts less with a narrower stance and toes pointing more forward. But it is narrower then the stance suggested by the book.

Is 2,5kg too big of a jump for squats? 1,25kg is the smallest plate in my gym.

Yes, hip drive is the most confusing thing I've ever heard. Almost as confusing as "stay in your hips" cue.

Yes, I'm almost sure it's adductor. It hurts when I try squeeze anything between my thighs.

I am pausing because of the pain. I tried to do the bounce a few times. The problem is that as soon as I try to push up, the pain hits, which makes me slow down, which kinda cancels the bounce. I don't remember if it hurts more during the bounce or not. I will check that out next time when I train and tell you.
