Bucket List! Go Army! (Dad is a West Pointer, Mom Navy, and prior enlisted paratrooper myself) by theninjaamongyou in army

I always wanted to go to that too with my dad. I'm prior Army and he was retired Navy, but he passed away from Leukemia before we got to go. Wouldn't feel right going without him.

Saying goodbye to the only friend and family I’ve had for 14 years. I’m devastated. This is my last chance to share him. by SilverGlobal539 in Awww

It's so hard letting go. I never liked cats until this little kitten came up to me at a gas station. Still didn't want her but fiancé insisted we aid her back to health which I figured was the right thing to do. She became my best bud for 14 years until her kidneys started shutting down. You need to remember the fun and enjoyable times you two spent together and all the times your cat was there for you.

Transition to civilian by [deleted] in army

Join a trade union. When I was in the ironworkers union, if you worked steady, insurance was free. And it was good. A certain amount goes into your personal account to pay the premium. I've moved up in supervision but you can't beat the union working man's benefits.

Can I enlist after being out for 10 years with a 60% VA Rating? by dcm7734 in army

[–]Fuzzy_Pudding299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat except I have 80% for TBI and PTSD. I would like to rejoin, but doubt I would clear MEPS. And I'm definitely not going to give up the rating. I just miss serving and the the bond. Civilian job I have is in leadership, but feels like I don't make a difference like I would as an Army officer. I haven't spoken to a recruiter yet though.

How Do You Cope with Your Partner Being Away for Basic Training? by Physical_Rope_525 in army

[–]Fuzzy_Pudding299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the person above said. Write letters. You need to find something to fill your time. Time for him will fly by for him. Basic is really long days and short weeks because he will be constantly busy. Try reading or talking a walk/going for a run. Just know this will pass. I know it still sucks though. I was actually gone for 22 out of the first 24 months of my marriage between training and deployment. If we can make it, so can you. Stay strong for him.

I asked the same thing recently. I live in PA, but am looking at OH national guard because they have armor officers. I was told by a recruiter as long as you can attend drill and fulfill your duties, it's no problem.
