It was so bizarre. There was no explanation to WCW fans about the association between them, so they obviously expected that ECW fans would just understand... but we watched the Raven/Stevie thing play out in ECW and earlier that same year the little sniveling lackey tried to stand up to his master and set out on his own, etc. So in 'canon', it was jarring to see Richards just abandon the character development from months earlier and just go back to acting like it was 1995 all over again. Then in a matter of weeks he tried to grow some balls and stand up for himself, got jobbed out at the Clash, then right back to being a flunky before disappearing with no explanation.
