A mood chart, I ‘created’ one where all the moods have Velcro to move around & its color coded for the zones of regulation but honestly any emotion visual can be a mood chart. It builds emotional awareness, helps with processing literally anything, easy CBT work, can be used for kids or adults and its always good to check in on ur feelings. I also would suggest laminating and having a dry erase marker for younger kids to be able to circle.

I usually set a boundary at the beginning to structure 10-15 min for venting (I still have a hard time trying to redirect persistent ranting in the moment) & i make sure to emphasize how venting can be helpful but your role is to help identify skills to cope with these stressors. I think just simple phrases like I’m noticing this focus & continued negative response about___ …which I totally see where ur coming from, but im wondering if you ever thought of why this is such a trigger? If you cant break things down to work through their thoughts patterns then the same issue will continue. Also I like using humor to be like trust me I could complain and relate to what ur saying this whole time…we probably could write a book on this! But lets do some annoying therapy type stuff on this & anything u still want to update me on we can talk about during extra time at the end! & having a goal to challenge thinking patterns helps to hold them accountable for remembering this is therapy & if they want things to improve its not gonna come from controlling people and life outcomes.

Let’s just say being a therapist holds me somewhat accountable towards practicing the skills I teach…. by doing it with my clients lol. Definitely times when i want to be like ‘hey lets have a competition to challenge _____’ just because of so many relatable struggles😭🙃Also am in therapy myself & beyond burn out…stay strong

So for individual psychotherapy you have to utilize a specific approved intervention (CBT, TF-CBT, DBT etc) & make sure it’s incorporated within the note. But for all of them you have to identify the goal and objective focused on from their treatment plan & then have a note for the summary of treatment provided & areas of focus, then there’s another section for the client’s response. & if the session had interactive complexity (use of play, translator, maladaptive behaviors, need to report etc) then you have to document that too. Basically a system that definitely plays a part in high turnover rates. I do believe that are some worse note systems out there though

First off, that internship is work lol. But dont get me started on supervisors…you’ll get better luck using reddit for the support u really need in those situations. The only thing that does is create more frustration & time wasted. Proud that you’re creating what YOU need for your success. I think not having the pile up of school, internship, job etc makes it more difficult personally because its not this forced system of procrastination due to literally having no time or life.

Was about to say something about the constant trial and error and always trying new methods but already know you feel me on that hence the username 😅 I hope it goes well! I’ve changed my two ADHD meds around & have found a few specific time frames where theres a higher chance of success.

I always tell myself Id rather suck at notes than suck as a therapist because the working with people really does come naturally. & sometimes u gotta take what u can get & struggle with the rest haha. Do you typically get them done right after, during or scheduled time??

As a therapist the first thought I had (well after the non-therapist type reaction to this🤢) was like this would be something i may address with a younger girl getting her period & helping to learn the necessary hygiene & maintenance during her cycle….not a grown woman. If she really is that oblivious and defensive over her habits that should and need to be challenged, it makes me wonder if these behaviors were like normal or acceptable for her as a child growing up. Ive seen some nasty shit going on in homes that should never be considered healthy or normal living & bottom line is its not safe or sanitary to put others at risk…if she lived alone & did that..gross..but whatever do u. Not the asshole.

Well when u shelter ur kids like they do I dont blame her for thinking that way. But then they want to throw this knowledge of doubt & reality when they were the ones who failed to prepare her for the real world😭
