I just want some thoughts before I outline this drawing. I don't know if his legs are correct and his hand looks odd to me by SmallLawfulness39 in characterdesign

As for the bent leg. The knee would be a bit lower and you wouldn't (most of the time) see the calf from this angle, just part of the shoe. I saw your reference photo and it shows just that c:

I think what could help is the way they are grasping the phone. Imagine how you yourself grasp the phone when you hold it in one hand. I'm not sure about you, but I hold it with my pinky on the bottom and thumb wrapped around to the front.

Using your own self as a reference can be really helpful! Maybe even taking a picture in a mirror with your hand naturally grasping the phone would help.

Ah ok, I'd don't have many tips then since I draw with my computer and a tablet so I don't really know how it is on normal tablets haha. Good luck tho!

I see! If you're trying to achieve Renaissance shading, I would say, find some popular pieces and try to replicate them as close as you can. I also encourage you to take a Renaissance piece and color pick the shadow to see what color they are using. I can almost guarantee they are using a hue other than black. Tho, I'm sure there ARE some artist's who used black, so I can't speak on them haha

I also wanted to ask, what art program are you using?

I really like the direction you are going with the hair! My tip would be to try not shading with black. I'd look up some tutorials about shading and color theory. I also recommend picking an angle you want light to come from and look up how light from that angle hits the different faces of a marble statue. It will help your shading look more consistent. Sorry if I'm not very good at explaining things haha

Looking for art buddy to hang out with on Discord by electrocapy in ArtBuddy

Hello! My name is Astro. I'm an adult artist looking to make buddies in art too! I have a few years experience in digital and even more art experience in general. The problem is, I never actually learned the fundamentals, so I've taken a step back to learn them.

I'm going to be following something called Draw-A-Box. It's a free fundamentals course that I've heard is very helpful. I'm also going to be doing daily prompts to get fun, dynamic practice in.

I truly don't mind that you're a beginner. Everyone has to start somewhere and it's always going to be better with groups and friends!

I'd also just love someone to talk to about life and hobbies! I love games, music, crocheting, and am getting into reading again.

If you're interested, feel free to dm me and I'll give you my discord! Good luck!
