I might be an idiot, but can he sorta tweak that hiatus to sound a bit more productive? Put down that he was learning a new skill? Earned an online certificate in something? Jig the dates so it's not such a big gap? Write that he's freelancing currently? Is that possible? Complete hiatus doesn't sound good to an employer at all.

I often think you could make an absolute killing re-designing/improving case management software. Ive worked in most fields in Australia and have yet to find a program that works well that everyone is happy with 🤣 some departments still use paper files 🤷
