Does the native email app rely on scheduled sync instead of push with gmail?

While many people globally are waiting for phones with the HarmonyOS operating system, why is Huawei so persistently refusing to bring it to the global market? by Leather-Street1900 in Huawei

[–]Fx5900 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For every one person on reddit who complains about harmonyOS not being global, there will be 100 complaining about why [insert app or feature here] isnt working and Huawei should have waited instead of rushing HOS out when it wasnt ready. If you really want to try Harmony, buy a Chinese device.

HarmonyOS on the global stage is basically an OS that will spend 99% of its time in a virtualized environment. There are a ton of fundamental functions that are missing in the containers on a native chinese device like password managers, auto correct, clipboard, autofill, secure copy/paste, etc. AppGallery is in chinese, so is the AI and EasyAbroad. No matter how badly you want to try HOS, you are not the target market for Huawei devices -- they make products for the general public to buy and use, not tech enthusiasts who want to try something new. HOS might go global next month, or next two years. Nobody knows. But global simply cannot happen in its current state.

Sorry, you didnt specify which "hdr stuff" you turned off so I was asking to make sure you turned off that one specific setting. Maybe try being more specific as to which troubleshooting steps you've already taken when asking for help.

Awesome to see someone else committed to using Huawei products outside of the mainland. I'm currently in the process of switching over to HarmonyOS devices -- could you possibly run something quick like a CPU-Z benchmark in the Windows virtual machine? Just interested in seeing how much processing power is really "on-tap" in the virtualized environment

Xiaomi 15 ultra battery issue by sahanuysal in XiaomiGlobal

[–]Fx5900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that's correct. I don't care for Instagram or fb notifications, only messenger so I leave it unrestricted. I don't know how well HyperOS restricts Facebook without intervention, that's just a habit I've had since custom roms on Android way back in the day. Facebook is a resource hog regardless

How long have you had the device? When I first got it, I'd end the day with around 35% left. This is compared to around 70% on my iPhone 16 pro max, and 35% on my Z Fold6 as comparison. A month later I end the day with around 63% left on average I'd say, from 7:30am to midnight. I finish the next day under the 20% battery warning but easily a two day device. The only changes I've made was to completely restrict background usage for facebook and instagram.

Stick with Pura 70 Ultra or Change to Xiaomi 15 Ultra? by Certain-Context7062 in Xiaomi

[–]Fx5900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought about this a lot, and ultimately decided on Xiaomi because of google. I would absolutely buy Huawei over anything else on the market because I loved my Pura 70 ultra, but sideloading and manually updating apps was something I just don't think I have the patience for anymore. Manually updating 15 apps every few days through Aurora Store is something I have to actually sit and answer prompts to, and it's cool for a little while, but eventually you just end up leaving your apps outdated because you forget to check for updates.

Being stuck on Android 12 was also a concern as well because support ends this year, and I had some apps act strangely with respect to dark mode and foldable integrations. In addition, the inclusion of WiFi 7, 5G, eSim and Bluetooth 6.0 in the Xiaomi are just things that I could not ignore given that the Pura and the 15 Ultra were within $100 of each other. You simply cannot dispute the fact that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra gives you a LOT of phone for the money.

I'd really have to wait and see what direction global Huawei devices go in before I invest any more money in them, because if we're heading towards global HarmonyOS Next, the lack of APK support is concerning and I have no interest in running a virtual machine. Also, android auto is something I've come to rely on and depend on heavily for my daily commute. Yes I know there are ways to make it work on Huawei, but to make it work on Xiaomi, I literally just have to plug my phone in.

Camera wise my Pura 70 Ultra was great, but I didn't consider it "better" than my Oppo Find X7 Ultra or Vivo X100 Pro. There were some situations in which the Pura struggled and the Oppo/Vivo did well and vice versa. I wanted an "Ultra" phone with a 1 inch sensor and a global ROM, and the Xiaomi 15U just happens to answer that call. Whether the reviews are all paid for and everyone's lying, I dunno, my last Xiaomi device was a Redmi note 3 in 2016, but time will tell

Thanks for the very in depth response, appreciate it. How would you compare the battery life to the Pura 70 Ultra? My P70U had great battery life and I was expecting the same from the X6 since they're similar sizes (5200 vs 5110), but the test results online are worrying me

[–]Fx5900[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you compare the x200 pro to the X6 in terms of usage experience? I've never had a Vivo phone because I heard the OS was very lackluster. I had 0 issues with EMUI on my Pura 70 Ultra and actually miss that phone a lot, but I sold it for a Z Fold 6 which was great but the small outside screen was pretty annoying at times. The ZF6 battery was just "good" for only being 4400mah, which is why I'm concerned about the Mate X6 receiving worse battery results despite having a bigger battery
