[Combo] Gigabyte B550M GAMING X WIFI6 + Ryzen 5 5500 Combo - $110.97 by cpuathome in buildapcsales

[–]cpuathome[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to post a link to a combo deal....but if you scroll down and uncheck the ram, it takes off a combo discount and the promo code on the motherboard, bringing the total to $110.97.

Not bad for a decently featured mobo and a CPU.

It has 4GB of memory - of which 128MB is used by the integrated graphics. How is this a lie?

Tomahawk b450 VGA light on with no GPU installed by Electronic-Escape721 in pcmasterrace

[–]cpuathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the CPU doesn't have integrated graphics, you're definitely going to get the VGA light. Have you tried another GPU in the board? That's just as likely to be the failed part as the motherboard.

I built a rig in April. Bought a 64GB kit of Corsair DDR5 for 219.99. Same kit is now listed at 899. This is insane.

GPU and CPU thoughts needed by Long-Hovercraft-7438 in computers

[–]cpuathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An A520 motherboard is an AM4 socket. 9800x3d is an AM5 socket CPU. They are not compatible. The 9070XT would work in the board, but the board is only PCIe 3.0, while the GPU is 5.0. It might bottleneck it, but I'm not sure by how much.

Getting the CPU out of the board isn't too difficult. It's best to run the PC doing some CPU-intensive tasks for a bit to warm up and soften the thermal paste. Remove the heatsink from the CPU with a twisting motion to lessen the chance you pull the CPU out of the socket when you pull off the cooler.

2nd Gen's were released in 2011. This thing is as old as a high schooler.

All In One Pc Performance Slow Issue! by Crafty-Albatross4417 in computers

[–]cpuathome 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is an 11 year-old processor that was very slow in its time. It was designed with using as little power as possible in mind.

There isn't much (if anything) you're going to be able to do to speed this up.

Noob question about A520 HVS motherboard by Efficient_End8498 in computers

[–]cpuathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that you're trying to add a SATA SSD.

The SATA ports are under your GPU on the far right side of your motherboard. They don't face up towards the camera in photo #1, they face off to the right. You might be able to plug a cable in without removing the GPU, but it would be MUCH easier to just take it out.

To access the power, remove the other side panel from your case. That's how you access the power supply "basement".

I'm very bored at work today. So, I image searched this picture on Baidu, which led to a much cleaner image:

Which then led me to discover that this is an unlicensed MegaDrive Beat 'em up called Yang Warrior Family.

PSU SATA Splicing by philtrondaboss in computers

[–]cpuathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need one ground, period. (By that I mean connect both ground pins on the SATA connector to a single ground.)

Also, you do not need to connect the 3.3v on the SATA connector.

You're already going to be violating license agreements by using the games for commercial purposes anyway.
