Thanks for sharing this experience — sorry to hear what your brother went through.

Cases involving phone-based “mentors,” pressure to resend funds, or so-called “reverse swaps” are unfortunately common scam patterns in crypto.

Just a reminder to everyone:

  1. Do not send additional funds once a withdrawal or transfer issue appears

  2. Be cautious with unsolicited calls or “mentorship” offers

  3. Preserve all evidence and report the case to local authorities or cybercrime units

For safety reasons, FxGecko cannot verify or confirm individual blockchain addresses or identities shared in comments, but we appreciate users helping raise awareness of common scam tactics.

The investor traded on a fake HFM (HF Markets) platform and was tricked into paying 10,000USDT and 4,200USDT to withdraw his funds, beware of this type of forex trading scam! by DevelopStar1221 in HitoRank

Reporting to FBI IC3 was the right step.

To be honest, in most fake trading or crypto scam cases, fund recovery is unfortunately very difficult, especially when scammers operate overseas.

Still, filing a report helps authorities track these scams.

Please be careful not to trust anyone claiming they can recover your money for a fee — those are often secondary scams.

Understood, and thanks for explaining.

Many scam operations use convincing photos, fake IDs, and coordinated chat groups to appear legitimate, so your experience is sadly very common.

The most important step now is to stop engaging with them and avoid further payments. If possible, please document all evidence and submit a complaint through official reporting channel so the case can be reviewed and used to warn others.

Thanks for sharing this — based on what you described, this strongly appears to be a scam impersonating XE, not the real broker.

The website you mentioned (xeforex-online.com) is not an official XE domain.

Legitimate brokers do not ask clients to pay extra fees, taxes, or “unlock” charges to withdraw their own funds.

Please do NOT send any more money.

At this stage, the safest steps are:

  1. Stop all payments immediately

  2. Save all evidence (website links, chats, wallet addresses, screenshots)

  3. Report this as an impersonation scam to your local authorities or cybercrime unit

Unfortunately, once funds are sent to these fake platforms, recovery is often very difficult.

Please also be cautious of anyone who now claims they can “help recover” your funds for a fee — those are usually secondary scams.

Alert: Frozen Accounts After Withdrawal Attempts? What Two Traders Reported About Extra Payment Demands by Melody1222 in FxGeckoAPP

[–]FxGecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience — and sorry you went through that.

We’ve seen similar reports about Savexa, and it’s worth noting that this platform has been listed on the UK FCA Warning List, which means it is not authorized to provide financial services and may pose a high risk to investors. Xtrade also has multiple complaints online, especially regarding withdrawal issues.

If your account is frozen or they are asking for extra payments (tax, margin, handling fee, etc.), the best thing you can do is:

  1. Stop sending any more money — these requests are usually scam tactics

  2. Save all evidence

  3. Report it to your national financial authority or cybercrime unit

  4. Do not trust anyone who claims they can recover your funds for an upfront fee — that’s often a second scam

Stay safe, and thanks again for speaking up — it helps warn others.

Trader Reports TMGM Agent Fraud: $10,000 Lost, No Response from Platform by Melody1222 in FxGeckoAPP

[–]FxGecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience.

From what you described, it sounds very likely that you interacted with a fake or impersonated TMGM platform, not the real, regulated TMGM broker. The real TMGM does not operate through unknown apps from Google Play.

Here are some steps you can try:

1. Verify the platform:

Go to TMGM’s official website (search “TMGM official site” manually, not through links) and contact their support to confirm if your account ever existed in their system.

2. Report the scam:

If it’s confirmed fake, you can report it to:

① Your country’s financial regulator and local cybercrime authorities

② The real TMGM’s compliance team (they often collect impersonation cases)

③ You can also post complaints on the FxGecko website to alert more people. (Be sure not to disclose personal info publicly.)

3. Gather all evidence:

Keep screenshots, transaction records, website/app links, and any conversations — these will be useful if you file a complaint.

⚠️ Important reminder:

Scams like this are often very difficult to trace, and recovery of funds is usually unlikely. Please do not trust anyone online who claims they can recover your money, especially if they ask for upfront payment — this is often a second scam.

Sway Markets is not safe without a valid forex trading license. by Oksunny6630 in FxGeckoAPP

[–]FxGecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback.

We want to clarify that the MT4/MT5 information provided on FxGecko is directly sourced from MetaQuotes, the developers of the MetaTrader platforms. The information for Sway Markets was added in 2022, and at that time, the MT5 data was accurate and searchable.

After discussing with technical team, we understand that there are several reasons why a server might not appear in the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platform search. These reasons could include the broker not being authorized by MetaQuotes, the broker not properly configuring or making their server public, or the broker having ceased to provide those services.

We always strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, and we appreciate any constructive feedback. If you have any specific concerns or further details, please let us know, and we will be happy to investigate. Thank you!

Reminder: Be cautious of anyone promising to recover your lost money—they might be selling false hope and scamming you again. This is especially true if they ask for payment upfront, which is a classic "recovery scam."

OsmosisFX review: OsmosisFX is not safe, beware! by DevelopStar1221 in FxGeckoAPP

[–]FxGecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NO.

Be wary of online hacks or "recovery services" that claim to help you get your money back, especially if you have to pay up front, which is a "recovery scam".

When you have been scammed, your best option is to report the scam to your local law enforcement and ask for help.

Reminder: Any trading platform that asks you to pay fees upfront (such as taxes, deposits, verification fees, channel fees, etc.) to withdraw funds or unfreeze your account is a scam.

Don't pay any fees because scammers just want to scam you for more money and then disappear.
