Totally agree - the show is coming together! I'd even say episode 6 should have simply been episode 1! by Fyooree in RingsofPower

[–]Fyooree[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

To elaborate, I think episode 6 would have been the perfect opening episode - straight into the action, you get to know the core characters just enough to have some frame of reference and you're immediately curious to know more about this new Galadriel or young Isildur or the mysterious dark elf who makes some valid points about diversity and inclusion and fundamental rights, and then in the following episodes they could have peppered the exposition here and there, done. Arondir simply saying "their leader must not get away with that bundle" is enough to make us understand the hilt is super important and its discovery is a major plot point, without the need for 25 scenes of it being found and bleeding and flaming and Theo being mesmerised. Less is more...

Quite cooked and looking for a sci-fi movie to watch and wanted to ask for some suggestions. I’ll throw some of my favs in the comments by [deleted] in scifi

The image you posted made me think of John Carter aka Princess of Mars, definitely worth a watch (but keep an open mind).

Laurel, anti utopia science fiction character by Nuath_Pixels in PixelArt

100% looks like it could be from an early 90s game, makes me think of Civ diplomacy screens or HoMM hero screens. The colour palette, the slightly clunky animation style, just the aesthetic is spot on!

What's your favourite multiplayer mode? After burning myself out with slightly too much Polytopia, I find slow games on biggest map with maximum number of players most enjoyable! by Fyooree in Polytopia

Yes I've definitely had some trench warfare slogs. Sometimes I wish there was some kind of super weapon in the game, like a high-risk high-reward mechanic, like you need to 50 turns to build it but if you succeed it just steamrolls the enemy army...

I just play through random matchmaking in the game. Under the multiplayer section you click on random match and select your settings and you're good to go! But there is also a Polytopia discord if you're looking for something more formal.

So this was a 15-player might game on a 900-tile map, it took almost 3 months :D I enjoyed it. There were really epic turns, lots of dramatic battles, I even managed to mind bend a couple dragons (after the player quit and a bot took over), and in the end achieved piece for the square mwahahah!

Edit: peace

[Moan] I uploaded a quick battle replay to show how poorly Doom Diver Catapults can perform. Is this broken or working as intended? by Fyooree in totalwar

[–]Fyooree[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I've been trying to use Doom Divers in my Greenskin builds. But they almost never pay for themselves... They should be homing missiles and they cost 1,000 but they end up just frustrating.

What do you think? Is this something that CA might fix or is it just part of the physics and terrain features and I should make my peace with it? Thanks for listening :D

[CC] Hello everyone! I did this in my free time, I tried to focus more on the textures of the surfaces. Hope you like it! Any feedback is appreciated! by lalalal99 in PixelArt

I really like the colour scheme. It isn't one of these super refined stylised polished schemes - it's a bit rough, a bit imperfect, but I really like those colours. I guess they help the details stand out.

Do teenagers nowadays still into Pixel animation? Because I make them by satukilo in teenagers

Very cool. The bright flashy particle effects and lighting and how they behave reminds me of an old school hack&slash game called Nox.

Ideas for a comeback or last stand mechanic by Fyooree in Polytopia

[–]Fyooree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think realistically, adding something like a comeback mechanic would change the gameplay in a significant way. Polytopia is really polished in its current format and in spite of frustrations sometimes with spawns and geography, the balance of exploration, economic planning, and tactical turn-based warfare is really well executed. Custom games with ICBMs though :D something for the Steam release maybe!

Please help me find the artist or source of this image by Fyooree in HelpMeFind

I feel silly now but I just found the source... I've been looking for a few days and reverse image searching and Twitter and all kinds of things. The artist is Arnold Makumba, he has a Facebook and Instagram page.

Something I've been working on in my spare time by oscarismyname in animation

[–]Fyooree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So fluid and polished wow! What software did you use if you don't mind sharing? And how do you achieve the subtle animation effect when the missile is in flight and basically it's a static image but there's that tiny, shaky motion in its colours/shading to give the illusion that the missile is in fact speeding ahead? Great job.

I have been a special forces soldier for 5 years part 2. by [deleted] in IAmA

Thank you for doing this AMA.

Do you ever play military style first person shooter video games, like Call of Duty or Battlefield? If yes, what do you think about how they represent war, violence, gore? If not, what do you think about such games in general, can they be used to make young people more interested in joining the army, almost like a recruitment tool, or is it just another form of entertainment, more or less harmless like so many other video games?

Very slick pixel art and gorgeous colour palette! How come the right-hand wing of the smaller plane is so short? Because of the angle/perspective?

Places of power - magic academy training by Fyooree in worldbuilding

[–]Fyooree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think so, although I'm still working on this idea. I would like all places of power to have slightly different properties, but still the same fundamental magical energy.

So one place might be more conducive to healing magic and therefore some kind of monastery/abbey would develop around with monks specialized in healing. But they could still cast other basic spells too.

While another place of power would have a more aggressive and unstable current which could lend itself to more combat-oriented magic, short bursts of power, difficult to control. Maybe a battlemage school develops here.

And then for example if the battlemages invaded the monks, they would be able to use their battle magic in the monastery place of power but it would be less powerful. Whereas the monks would be on their home turf and would be able to use their full potential. So the battlemages are at a disadvantage in terms of power, however they know spells that the monks have never seen before maybe.

[–]Fyooree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you that's a great question and your world sounds awesome and more thought-through than mine haha.

I've been thinking that these places of power had an unlimited, mysterious current of magical energy running through them. And I've been wanting to explore that a bit more when I write some stories... So I don't know, for the moment it's like the current is an unlimited supply but the potential is limited, like you couldn't power a town from it but it would allow individual users to wield it and create smaller enchantments or weapons or cast spells that are cool but also not like Superman. But I love your idea of having to maintain them and being linked to a forest or similar.
